Joseph "Joe" Dee Garrison, Jr.

of Greenbrier, AR

January 4, 1959 - May 1, 2019

Joseph Dee Garrison, Jr. of Greenbrier went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. He was born January 4, 1959 in Casper, Wyoming to the late Joseph Dee Garrison, Sr. and Wandeen C. Garrison. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Michael Dean Garrison.

Left to cherish his memory is Katie Garrison, they enjoyed 12 years of their lives together including 7 years of marriage, daughters, Jolie Kate and Randa Jo Litton (Chase), grandchildren, Colbie and Colten Litton, many Aunts and Uncles and his entire racing family.

Joe was a member of Crosspoint Baptist Church and was Owner/Operator of GRT Race Cars, Inc for 35 years. He enjoyed collecting racing memorabilia, restoring his 92 Ford and being at the racetrack with his drivers. Joe loved spending time with his family on the beach relaxing and especially being outdoors with Jolie Kate and his grandchildren. He was a very patriotic man and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be at 1pm, Monday May 6th at Crosspoint Baptist Church in Greenbrier with funeral service following at 2pm. Pastor Matt Bagby will be officiating. Burial will follow at Thorn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jolie Kate Garrison Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 53, Greenbrier, AR 72058 or donations can be made at the Regions Bank Greenbier location or to the Crosspoint Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 153, Greenbrier, AR 72058.

Katie and family I was shocked to hear about Joe and your illness. You know the Garrison family and I have a relationship since they moved to Arkansas. When Joe was just a young kid I always bought he and Mike a birthday gift. Dean would always tell me to get Joe a race car set to assemble. One day I said Joe I wish I knew something to get you other than a race car set that would be enjoyable. His reply was” I love what you get and I am going to have my own race car business as soon as I get out of high school.” His life time dream was well accomplished and I’m grateful I gave him those car set to assemble. He was a great kid, son, brother, husband, father and friend to all who knew him. Most important than all he is in heaven with JESUS and no pain. God Bless you and I will pray for you and your health. Your friend always, Kay

Joe was a great guy who built and created a lot of champions throughout the country. But better yet a great guy who loved this country and wanted a great country for his family and friends in the future. One of the best cars I bought, was his GRT computer car who Freddy Smith wheeled as his house car back in the mid 90's. Prayers for his family and company for strength during these tough times.

To my dearest son. I’ll never forget the first conversation you and I had after you married Katie. “By marrying Katie Ellen, I’ve not gained a son in law rather I’ve gained another son and I want you to call me dad”.
I truly enjoyed the many fun times we had but especially the relaxing times spent at Pensacola Beach! Each and every time I saw you, at some point in the conversation you would always ask me if you could do anything for me.
I’ll never forget the last conversation I had with you. “Son, I hope you get well and out of the hospital soon but if for some reason you don’t, please don’t lose a minutes sleep worrying about Katie or Jolie Kate because I will always do anything in my power to make them happy.”
I just spent two weeks of the happiest days of my life at the Mayo Hospital with Katie trying my best to make sure she got plenty of rest and making SURE she had something to laugh at or about...usually it was at me...which is fine. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!! :)
Please give my love to Ms Dean, my mom and Bob as I really miss them.
Look forward to seeing you one day!
Dad
Ps, if Duke scratches the snot out of me one more time, he’ll join you. :)
