James Dale (Milo) Johnson of Conway, went to be with his Lord on October 29, 2021. He was born to James Wyatt and Tressie Alberniece Jones Johnson on September 12, 1936 in Conway.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Thomas and Laverne; and nephew, Michael Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Joni Johnson; children, Wyatt (Scottie Jo) Johnson, Rhonda Johnson, Chad (Tracy) Johnson and Chris Ronio; grandchildren, Zach (Katy) Johnson, Austin Johnson, Kayleigh (Josh) Williams, Tyler Rasmussen, Leslie (Jeremy) Lawhorn and Joseph Linker; great-granddaughter, Eliza Johnson; as well as two nieces, Lisa (Ronnie) Free and Jennifer (Blake) Day.
A memorial visitation will be Saturday, November 6, 2021, 10:00-11:00AM at the Chapel of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. A memorial service will begin at 11:00AM with Bro. Wyatt Johnson officiating. There will be an opportunity at the end of the service to share your favorite Milo story for friends and family.

I am so sorry for your loss. In fact, our entire community in what used to be Southwest of Conway has suffered a tremendous loss. Jimmy Dale Johnson was one of the last of the old timers in our area. He represented well an era that has since passed on. I have known the Johnson family all my life. I remember fox hunting with Milo and my father at a very early age. I remember always seeing him pass by in his big truck on the way home from work. I remember riding the bus with his children. Lots of memories but the one that really stands out to me was a few years ago after I had been so sick and nearly died. I went in to eat at the Toad Suck Station and Milo was there eating as well. He told me that he was glad that I made it through and he showed genuine concern. At that moment, He touched my heart. I was able to see a kind, loving and compassionate person hid behind his rough, rugged, mountain man image that we had always believed him to be. He was an Icon, pillar and rock in our Donnell Ridge, Belk's Corner and Rocky Gap community and will be greatly missed by those of us who are old enough to remember him in his younger days.

We are so sorry for your loss. Milo was a very special man. Out children just loved him and the stories he would tell them. They relished in the idea that they knew “a real live mountain man.†They all agreed If you gave Milo his rifle, a knife, and his Henney he could survive in the hills endlessly. I miss following him to the diner in the mornings at 25 to 30 miles per hour and watching people pass us irritated and I would laugh thinking when he was a kid cars barely went this fast. Milo saw a lot of history take place, he lived it, now we can only read about it and remember he told us stories of first hand experience. We will all miss him.
May you all have our peace and blessing through the days ahead.
