Sharon Kay Heflin

of Little Rock, AR

November 29, 1946 - February 26, 2026

Sharon Kay Windham Heflin, 79, went to be with her Savior on Thursday, February 26th, 2026, following a battle with Alzheimer's. Born in Little Rock, AR, Sharon was the only child of R.W. ''Windy'' Windham and Ruth Elizabeth Pillman Windham. After attending LR Central High School and graduating in three years from Ouachita Baptist University, Sharon married her high school sweetheart, Johnny Heflin, in 1967. She joined Johnny in building the family's Terminix franchise into a successful family business where she filled a variety of positions until her retirement in 2024.

As an active member of Second Baptist Church in downtown Little Rock for over 50 years Sharon served on multiple committees, was an ordained deacon, and an occasional Sunday School teacher. Alongside her faith and spending time with her family, Sharon was passionate about working with not-for-profits throughout central Arkansas. Providing vision and hands on leadership, she served on and/or chaired boards benefiting the Baptist Health Foundation, Alzheimer's Arkansas, Argenta Community Theater, American Heart Association, Centers for Youth and Families, Thea Foundation, Gaines House, UA-PTC, AR Kids Read and many others. Sharon's ability to connect with an organizations mission and find ways to accomplish their goals was a precious gift.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny, her parents Ruth and RW ''Windy'' Windham, her mother and father in law Lynn and Jay Heflin. She is survived by her sons, Jay (Andrea) Heflin and Marc (Billie) Heflin all of Little Rock, her grandchildren, Grace Heflin of West Hollywood, CA, Ben Heflin, Lynn Heflin, and Anna Heflin all of Little Rock, her brother-in-law Dr. Boo (Mary) Heflin of HSV, her nieces and nephew Judy (Mike) Malone of Arlington, TX, Sherry Heflin of Mesquite, TX, and David Heflin of Roanoke, TX, along with several great and great-great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, and in memory of Sharon's genuine desire to help others, the family requests that any memorial gifts be made to an organization of your choice that focuses lifting up others in our community.

Sharon had been in my life since elementary school and continued through life. It was a privilege to be her friend. We never lost contact through the years, and we always “picked up” exactly where we left off. I miss her, but Praise God I will see her in our eternal home.

I cannot bring to mind two finer people than Sharon and Johnny Heflin. I learned so much serving alongside them on the American Heart Association Board. Their leadership and concern for our community were inspirational. Stacie and I send our condolences and offer our prayers for Marc and Jay and the entire family. May God's peace that transcends all understanding surround you during this time of grief.

Mark and Jay. It saddens me to read about Sharon’s passing. You all were a very close family and when Johnnie moved to heaven, you all became stronger as a family. A beautiful family. My husband first met Johnny at a job interview. Mike had read about Johnny and his father and he wanted to work for them at Terminix. They talked a long time but Johnny told Mike that as much as he would like to hire him, he would not be able to pay Mike what he was making. Mike told him he did not care because he wanted to work for their company. And Johnny. After many phone calls Johnny gave in And hired Mike. Mike loved Johnny like a brother and had the highest respect for Sharon. Now Mike will be able to spend time with them both in heaven.
I know that you. boys are strong and have beautiful families of your own. You have been highly blessed.

Sharon showed such love and compassion to all. It was an honor to serve with Sharon as we began AR Kids Read to help children read at grade level. There was such a twinkle in her eye when she was with the kids and spoke about AR Kids Read, her Lord and Savior, and all of the wonderful charities she loved and served.

She will be deeply missed. My heartfelt condolences to her family.

I am so sorry to learn of the loss of Sharon. She was infinitely kind. Her first impulse was always, "What can I do to help" She was so attentive to my mother, especially in her later years. They shared many things in common: both graduates of Ouachita, widowed at a relatively young age, long-time members of Second Baptist Church, and both with a loved one afflicted with the same type of cancer. Johnny was diagnosed and treated for AML Leukemia. Later I too was diagnosed and treated for the same condition. Sharon was such a constant support to me and my mother during this agonizing time. When my mother eventually passed away, I could always expect to receive an inspirational card from her on the anniversary of her passing. My heart goes out to her family and all those who knew and loved her. In her memory, I don't think anything would make her happier than if a person would sign up on the Bone Marrow Registry to donate stem cells in order to save a life. You may be a match for someone out there and not even know it.

To say that Sharon Heflin touched our lives would be a vast understatement. She served on the auxiliary board and in countless other leadership roles at Baptist Health, was a true friend, mentor and difference-maker. There was never a worthy cause that she would not champion. Her life was one of dedication to family, friends, her faith and community. What a team she and Johnny made! And their legacy lives on in their amazing sons, Jay and Marc and their families. Our sons, Jimi and Gabe well remember Sharon’s many kindnesses to them when they were growing up. They join us in mourning her passing and celebrating her life. We are holding the Heflin family close to our hearts with much love, Jim & Callye

Sharon Heflin had such a bright and uplifting presence and a real emotional generosity. This photo of her shows her beauty, which was only matched by the loveliness of her spirit.

She reached out to me when I was trying to sort through the medical device options for my mother and steered me to something that greatly improved the quality of my mom’s life for her last months. I was so grateful for her guidance. Every year on the anniversary of my mother’s death, she sent a card.

She spoke about her family with love and was proud of her children, and she loved Johnny.

I send condolences to her family and friends. She was treasure.

Jay and Marc,
I know the angst you are feeling right now...though you knew this day would come soon, it gets here too quickly. Your mom was more than proud of you both for the paths of your lives...she knew through everything she faced that you were okay...were equipped for the tasks of your lives...and there was no doubt in her heart of your love for her. I don't think I've had a birthday in the past 45 years that there was not a card in the mail from her. I will miss that this year. Know you are both loved by so many folks...and as simply an observer through the years, I can say, "Well done, good and faithful servants!" You are the men Sharon hoped you would be. I'm glad my son knows you both...that cements a place in my heart for you.
