Barbara Jean Clark

of Little Rock, AR

May 7, 1935 - February 3, 2026

Barbara Cooley Clark was born in Arkadelphia, Arkansas on May 7, 1935, the only child to Gerald and Hazel Cooley. She passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at 90 ½. Barbara graduated from Little Rock Senior High in 1952, then studied at Henderson State University. Barbara was married to Carl (Fred) Clark for 53 years. They adopted a baby girl, Melissa, at four months. For most of Barbara's career, she was a secretary for Worthen Bank and Stroh Brewery Company in Little Rock. She is predeceased by her parents and husband. She is survived by daughter, Melissa Clark; grandchildren, Clark Van Hook (30) and Caroline Hartsell (18).

Barbara loved shoes, jewelry - big hoop earrings, long necklaces and watching the Razorbacks play. Leopard print anything and denim shirts were her most favorite of all. She loved her grandchildren more than ever. Mammaw loved attending any activity of Clark's and Caroline's school performances, soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball games, archery competition, and dance recitals. She would cheer loudly from the sidelines then brag and share stories to her friends. She was so very proud of them!

Barbara moved into The Blake at Chenal three years to the day of her passing. She was appointed President of Residents, loved the van trips Kayla Shelnut planned, bingo and jeopardy games and the conversations with her friends by the fire. From the beginning Barbara bonded with the staff, nurses and residents. She had a special bond with Joe and Ann Teeter, Wanda Phelps and especially her side kick Barbara Davies. Barbara was very smart, witty, sassy, and strong! She was lucky enough to have long-standing friendships in her life with Barbara Brossett, Lee Jaros, Barbara Terry and Peggy Mathews Shoptaw. Oh, the stories they could tell.

Mom, thank you for raising me strong and giving me mass amounts of love and support! You have been an amazing mom to me and grandmother to Clark and Caroline.

We love you, Mom! We will miss you dearly!

Visitation at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, LR, AR from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 11, 2026. Interment will be 11:00 am, Thursday at Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery in North Little Rock.

Barbara, beloved friend, it was 70 years last month that we met! We have been down a long road together, some stretches smooth and other stretches bumpy. We have been like sisters.

You’re on a different road now, and I’m sure going to miss you. I’ll catch up with you in a little while!
