Joan Rappold of Conway passed from this life at home on 4 February 2026 at the age of 91. Patricia Joan Diehl was born 14 March 1934, to Arthur and Johnnie Diehl of Vilonia, Arkansas. She attended Vilonia schools, played basketball, and graduated in 1952. She met and married Paul Rappold of Conway. She was a homemaker and raised her six children and provided childcare in her home for dozens of other children. After her children were grown and her husband, Paul, passed, she worked at Hambuchen's Home Furniture until she retired. She attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Conway. She enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens Center, playing cards and dominoes, and visiting with her friends. Most of all she loved her family and enjoyed her grandkids and great grandkids.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Paul Rappold and siblings: brothers Doyce, Namon, Norman, and W.A. Diehl; sisters: Monnie Ruth Harris and Kathleen Kelley.
Joan is survived by her children: Paula Lynch, Judy Rappold, Joe (Donna) Rappold, Brenda (Tim) Nabholz, Dennis (Tracey) Rappold, and Scott (Debbie) Rappold. Grandchildren: John Lynch (Leigh), Jennifer (Bryan) Hutson, Megan (Justin) Sierk, Valerie Hood, Diehlon Rappold, Hunter Harmon, Jeremy Nabholz, Joanna Nabholz, Adam Rappold, Michael (Mary Rose) Rappold, Kalyn (Jace) Henry, Nick (Danielle) Rappold, Nathan (Alyssa) Rappold, Lauren Rappold, and Ethan Rappold. She is survived by 24 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
The service for Joan will be held on Tuesday 10 February 2026 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Conway. A Rosary will begin at 10 am, visitation will follow, and a funeral mass will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Crestlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers include: John Lynch, Jeremy Nabholz, Nick Rappold, Adam Rappold, Michael Rappold, Diehlon Rappold, Nathan Rappold, and Ethan Rappold. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Joseph School Endowment at 1315 College Avenue in Conway.
