Lois Nell Voyles

of North Little Rock, AR

May 13, 1939 - February 2, 2026

Lois Nell (Mahaffey) Voyles, age 86, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026. She was born May 13, 1939, to the late James Earl Mahaffey and Anna Belle (Hinkle) Mahaffey. Lois was a native of Bristol, TN, and lived much of her adult life in Texarkana, AR, before moving to North Little Rock, AR over 30 years ago.

Prior to her retirement in 2014, Lois was a dedicated paraprofessional at Crestwood Elementary School in North Little Rock. She was well known for going above and beyond to support the school and help her students, developing and maintaining relationships that have endured to the present day.

Lois enjoyed dancing and traveling, especially going on ocean cruises. She was a master in the lost art of written communication through the postal service, never missing a birthday, anniversary, or holiday message to family and friends. And she always kept a variety of greeting cards on hand, just in case.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Lynda Kinkead of Moneta, VA; brother-in-law Jack Lowe; and by the love of her life and travel & dance partner, Larry Fulfer. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Angela Golden (Greg), David A. Voyles (Lisa), Michael Voyles, and Jeffrey Voyles; sister Earlene Lowe of Kingsport, TN; brothers Jim Mahaffey (Joan) and David Mahaffey (Linda), both of Bristol, TN; as well as 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, who all adored their ''Mimi.''

A funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 pm on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 JFK Blvd, North Little Rock. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 11:30 am. There will be a private entombment immediately following the ceremony at Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ''Crestwood Elementary Lois Nell Voyles Memorial.'' This fund will be active starting Monday, February 9, 2026, online at www.nlrsd.org/page/donating-to-programs.

Angie, so sorry for your loss.

I had hoped my grandson could have gone to Crestwood years ago.

A student teacher from Indian Hills went there to teach years ago.

My condolences to you all.

Lois and I worked together at Crestwood Elementary School, where she dedicated her life to serving special needs children.
She put her whole heart and soul in her work and truly loved every child she cared for. Lois was a kind and compassionate person who would do anything for anyone. We became close friends and I loved her dearly. A
After I retired and moved to another state, I was afraid that we would lose touch, but Lois made sure that never happened. She stayed connected by letters and cards never forgetting my birthday and always sending a Christmas card.
It is hard to believe that she’s gone, but I find comfort knowing that she’s now in the arms of Jesus and reunited and dancing with her beloved, Larry.
“Well done good and faithful servant.. enter into the joy of the Lord.” Matthew 25:22
Love you, Lois. Rest in peace, my dear friend.

I had the privilege of working with sweet Lois at Crestwood Elementary. She was a one to one para for one of my students. Lois was precious to this student and I know that young man will never forget how she cared about him. No matter what she was asked to do, Lois always did it without hesitation. She was truly a team player and loved working with kids and being part of an amazing group of educators. Lois was the cheerleader for all.

She sent me a Christmas card every year, even after we moved on. She had such a kind, positive spirit and her shining light will be missed.
