April 16, 1949 - January 22, 2026
Strickland ''Strick'' Edward Rodgers, Jr., born April 16, 1949, in Memphis, Tennessee and residing in Tunica, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, with his longtime friend Mark Brown faithfully by his side until the very end.
Strick was a third-generation tradesman with Rodgers Refrigeration, a line of work he treated not just as a job, but as a way to serve others. He never missed an opportunity to help someone in need, often repairing a neighbor's heat knowing full well he might never see a dime. That generosity was simply who he was.
An outdoorsman through and through, Strick loved fishing and hunting, especially duck hunting. Long before it became popular, Strick was already waist-deep in cold water at dawn. While others chased deer, he stayed true to the ducks, duck hunting before duck hunting was cool. He was one of the original members of Ducks Unlimited and a founding member of the Old Wildlife Hunting Club.
A memorial celebration, just the way Strick would have wanted it, will take place this summer at the Cutoff, where stories will be told, laughs shared, and his life remembered as it was lived: generously, outdoors, and on his own terms.

Lord knows I’m gonna miss him! He was definitely one of a kind and full of stories!

Our condolences and prayers to the family. We are deeply saddened by Strick's passing. He was a beloved friend and our lives will not be the same without friendship, humor and wilhonesty. Rest in peace our friend.

Sure miss our friend and neighbor. Prayers go to the loved ones he left behind.

Praying God’s comfort for the family and friends. He will be missed.

Coworker, friend, family: the man I knew was uniquely good natured and kind. I enjoyed our times together, even when stuck for days during a snow storm in Texas. May his family and loved ones find peace, as may Strick.

I always enjoyed my conversations with Strict. The last one took place getting my hair cut. It ended with Strict dropping off a book "Rising Tide" at my office the following week for me to read. He will be missed.

Your favorite Chef will miss not being able to see your smiling face. Great man and even a better friend.

Good man and a friend. You will be missed.

My deepest sympathies to the family and friends grieving this loss. Strick was always kind and good to me.

He was very kind to me when I was young and he always made me laugh. He will be missed! ❤️

I am so sorry for your loss. Praying for his family and friends that they find joy in the wonderful memories they made with Mr. Strick. I remember my first conversation with him when I was in my early early 20's about my relationship with alcohol. I looked up to him and will never forget him being there for me at that time. May he Rest in Peace.

Big Strick played an instrumental part of my childhood, Little Strick and I have been sharing and reliving many of those memories the past few days, many thanks to the value you added in my life, fly high my friend!!

Praying for peace and comfort for all of the loved ones left behind. Strick will be missed.

My heart hurts in reading this, but my mind finds comfort in remembering many great conversations with Strick. Bless his heart, he had to spend a very long day driving me to a funeral somewhere in Arkansas, then across the ole Mississippi into Tennessee to Paris, TN (I think) and finally back to Tunica.
Truth is, it was a great day for me, for sure, and I thank God for giving us that time together. My sincere prayers for peace and comfort to all of the family and friends who are missing my friend along with me. Bro. Doug

Strick grew up in south Memphis where you had to be tough. Even though he was tough if he liked you he would give you the shirt off his back. Sorry for his loss, but we don't get to say not now when God calls us home

One of a kind - lucky to have known him. He will definitely be missed.

Prayers for the family. He will be missed!

Saddened to hear this news. Great Tunican

Strick was truly one of a kind and I will miss him. You could always count on a warm hug from Strick and he would help you if he could!!

Heartfelt sympathies. All of you are in my prayers. Can't wait to hear the adventures of Strick Rodgers this summer. He will be missed.

Strick was a true friend and mentor to me. I learned so much from him I am forever grateful for. I water ski’d the first time behind his boat in the mighty muddy off the Cutoff as a teenager. He taught me the fundamentals of electricity, HVAC, commercial refrigeration and duct fabrication and how to troubleshoot a faulty system. I remember telling him I wasn’t a carpenter when we installed my first furnace and he said “you are now!”. He waded into and slipped down in the freezing water to retrieve my first banded green head! He took me on my first hog hunt and we shared many hunts and great times afield. He always encouraged me when life got tough and we shared our struggles together. Herrr herrr! Rest easy my friend, til we meet again..
