Ellis "Marie" Marie Middleton

of Cozahome, AR

May 15, 1942 - January 18, 2026

Ellis Marie Brooks Middleton, age 83 of Cozahome, Arkansas peacefully went home on Sunday, January 18th, 2026 before church. She was born in Leslie, Arkansas on May 15th, 1942 to Cecil Earl Brooks and Clara Lee Allison Brooks. Around 1947 her family moved to Abernathy, Texas where she grew up and met the love of her life, David when she was a freshman in high school. She graduated high school in May of 1960 and married David on June 14th, 1960.

After David and Marie married they started their family and moved to Sundown, Texas in 1963 where she was a homemaker, wife and mother to her two boys. In October of 1996 she and David moved to Arkansas where they spent their retirement years. She loved and served Jesus throughout her life. Marie taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, working with pre-teen and teen girls. She taught sewing classes to any who were interested. She was active in the local quilting guild at her home in Arkansas. Marie had lived a long and fulfilling life when she met Jesus face to face. She will be missed by the family and friends she left behind, but if you know Jesus, you will see her again.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Clara Brooks; four sisters, Marguerite Clutts, Mary Elizabeth Clutts, Clara Maude Sons, and Audrey Inez Miller; and two brothers, Gerald Brooks and Cecil Lee Brooks.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, David Middleton; two sons, Mark Middleton (Sharla) and Paul Middleton (Mazzie); four grandchildren, Christi Jensen (James), Ashley Teague (Tony), Brandon Middleton (Kristina) and Allison King; and four great-grandchildren, Kylie Middleton, Michael Middleton, Tatum Teague and Morgan King; and many extended family and friends who will also miss her greatly.

Funeral services for Marie will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 21st, 2026 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Darin Holliman and Bro. Rick Watts officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Creek Cemetery near Harriet, Arkansas. Friends and family will serve as bearers.

We were so sad to learn about your Momma's passing, thinking we would be greeted by her with the usual hug and blessing as we came to Cozahome, but she had a better place to be. We know she entered into the fullness of Joy in the presence of Jesus, so we'll look forward to a more glorious reunion. We are praying for your Daddy and all of you in this time, and for the future. Much love.

I feel EXTREMELY blessed for the short period of time that I have known Brooks. You could see the light of the Lord around her and feel such peace in her presence. She made a quilt, prayed over it and gifted it to me only 2 weeks ago and as special as I felt receiving it, I feel like it is even more a blessing because it was made with her hands, the hands of hers that served our Lord with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. My sincere condolences to those of you that were blessed to have known her longer. I wish I did. May you Rest in peace with our Father and Savior and I am crying such happy tears knowing that you and Miss Virginia are reunited in His Kingdom!!!✝️

Brooks, you will be greatly missed. Your Christian faith was strong in everything you did and our loss is heaven's gain. The Veterans you did Quilts of Valor for honor the quilts you made for them. Words just cannot express my thoughts. Many prayers for David and your family as the deal with the loss of wife and mother. May the Lord bless them and hold them up.

Oh this sweet lady will be missed by so many! She was my late momma’s (Virginia Arrowood) cherished friend & i imagined them reunited now with Jesus in their forever home in glory. I loved her when I first met her. She had a spirit around her that made everyone love her. In church she was described as a ‘Spirit-led, Bublically-driven’ member and I can think of no better words to describe her. I’m sure our Lord & Savior is so happy with her service while she was with us. I’m so thankful we will see her again.
