Carol Ann Schichtl

March 1, 1939 - December 30, 2025

Carol Ann Schichtl, 86, died peacefully on December 30, 2025, surrounded by her family in Conway, Arkansas.

A rosary will be said on January 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Parish in Conway, Arkansas.

A graveside service will be held at St. Boniface Church in New Dixie, Arkansas, immediately following the Mass. A reception will be hosted afterward in the St. Boniface Parish Hall for all who would like to attend.

Carol was born on March 1, 1939, in San Antonio, Texas, to Ralph and Elizabeth Rummel. The youngest of four children, she grew up with two of her siblings and carried with her many fond memories of her childhood, living in different parts of Texas, fishing from the pier on the Gulf, and taking trips with her father. She was raised in the Catholic faith, a foundation that remained central to her throughout her life.

Carol and her husband, Tom, shared a deep and enduring love that shaped every chapter of their lives together. They were true partners supporting one another through challenges, celebrating joys side by side, and finding comfort in each other's presence. Their bond was evident to all who knew them, and their devotion remained a steady foundation for their family. They were blessed with seven children, who remained the heart of her life. She devoted herself to raising her family; and her children and grandchildren continued to live close by, a testament to the strong bonds she nurtured.

Alongside her dedication to family, Carol pursued several meaningful careers throughout her life. She managed the St. Joseph School cafeteria for many years, becoming a familiar and comforting presence to countless students and staff. Later, she found her calling in real estate, building a long and successful career as a sales agent, broker, and trainer. Carol spent more than 20 years with Century 21, where she was known for her professionalism, mentorship, and the genuine care she showed to both clients and colleagues. Her work ethic, warmth, and steady guidance left a lasting impact on everyone she worked with.

Carol enjoyed her early retirement years traveling with Tom across the western United States and living on their 40 acre farm. In her well earned retirement, she pursued several hobbies with him that included woodworking, winemaking, sewing, gardening, and scrapbooking. Their shared interests brought them great joy and created many treasured memories.

Carol is survived by her sister, Doris Claflin; brothers in law Jim Schichtl and Roy ''Butch'' Schichtl; sisters in law Shelby Schichtl and Joy Schichtl; her seven children and their spouses: Debbie (Richard) Goggans, Ray (Brenda) Schichtl, Matt (Nicole) Schichtl, Mark (Michelle) Schichtl, Tommy (Angie) Schichtl, Georgette (Greg) Ferus, and Luke (Rachel) Schichtl; 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Leo Schichtl; her parents; her brothers, Kenneth (Carolyn) Rummel and Ralph Rummel Jr.; sisters in law, Anna Mae ''Pete'' (John ''Doc'') Hart, Magdalene ''Della'' (Alvin) Duclos, Mary Lou Schichtl, and Angel Schichtl; brothers in law, George (Beth) Schichtl, William Schichtl, Robert Schichtl, Ed (Shirley) Schichtl, and Fred Claflin.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Joseph Endowment Fund.

Do not stand
By my grave, and weep.
I am not there,
I do not sleep—
I am the thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints in snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle, autumn rain.
As you awake with morning's hush,
I am the swift, up-flinging rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight,
I am the day transcending night.
Do not stand
By my grave, and cry—
I am not there,
I did not die.
