Charles E. Sherley, 89, of Sulphur Rock passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025.

He was born May 16, 1936 in Albion, Michigan to William Frank Sherley and Dora Ann Cottrell Sherley.

Charles was a hard working and caring person who loved his dog, Teddy. He graduated ASU in Jonesboro with honors in 2002 and was co-owner and founder of Choice Realty. Charles worked for the Arkansas Highway Department for 27 years as a project superintendent and then worked in construction at a private construction company after his retirement. He enjoyed building koi ponds, playing dominoes on Saturday nights, collecting coins and old irons, telling jokes and stories, and raising chickens. Charles was a devout christian, member and deacon of Sulphur Rock Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, whom he married September 2, 1955, Virginia Alice (Waits) Sherley of the home; two daughters, Dawn Moody (Steve) of Sulphur Rock, Beth Rouse (Burnis) of Georgetown; six grandchildren, Kit Horton, April Ward, Whitney Cupples (Lex), Burnis Rouse, Jr. (Breanna), Blake Rouse (Makenzie), and Forrest Rouse (Sydney); eleven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, and five sisters.

Pallbearers are Bret Ward, Jr., Blake Rouse, Burnis Rouse, Jr., Forrest Rouse, Steve Moody, and Burnis Rouse, Sr. Honorary pallbearers are Lex Cupples, the nurses of fourth floor central at White River Health, and the nurses and staff of Wood Lawn Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Sulphur Rock Baptist Church at 10:00am with Ronnie Toon officiating. Burial will follow at Sulphur Rock Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be made in his memory to Sulphur Rock Baptist Church, 470 N. Vaughn St, Sulphur Rock, AR 72579.
