Doris Jean Swan

of Fox, AR

January 3, 1941 - December 20, 2025

Doris Jean (Noble) Swan, age 84, of Fox, Arkansas passed peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 2025. She was born on January 3, 1941, in Senath, Missouri to Ople Evelyn and Clarence Cleveland Noble.

Doris is survived by her son Tim Swan of Searcy; daughter Mary (John) Rychtarik of Fox; brothers Jackie Noble of Judsonia and James Noble of Searcy; brother-in-law Bill Sledge of West Point; sisters Phyllis Rowe of Searcy, Marlene (Rodger) Carson of Judsonia, Wilma Stevens of Judsonia, Melba Schmidt of Judsonia, and Evelyn (David) Smith of Searcy; sisters-in-laws Oleta Noble of Kensett and Judy Noble of Romance; grandsons, Greg (Jessica) Swan of Fredericktown, Missouri, CJ (Savannah) Rychtarik of Perryville; granddaughters, Michelle (Billy) Newman of Roosevelt, Alicia Christopherson of Fox, Ashley (Nathaniel) Coffman of Vilonia, Grace (Matt) Williams of Ward, Kimberly Swan of Judsonia, Brandi (Eric) Grillot of Clinton, Stephanie (Zach) Callahan of Mountain View, Courtney (Daniel) Littell of Greer, South Carolina, Karissa (Rodney) Hannah of Bald Knob; sixteen great-grandsons, fifteen great-granddaughters, three great-great-grandsons, one great-great granddaughter and a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her devoted husband of 62 years John Wesley Swan; son John Paul Swan; parents Clarence and Ople Noble; brothers Billy Noble and Cleveland Noble; sisters Bobbie Swan, DeLois Sledge and four infant siblings.

Doris respected hard work and practiced it daily. You would be hard-pressed to find anyone who could outwork Doris at any stage of her life. She learned this trait from her parents early on. She loved to tell the story of how her daddy made her a short-handled hoe and her mother fashioned a burlap toe sack so she could join the family in harvesting cotton at just 4 years old. Doris passed this legacy down to her children and grandchildren with the help of her husband and best friend, Jay. Together they worked tirelessly to make sure they met their family's needs and always had a meal on the table prepared from the garden they grew and the livestock they raised. Doris' dedication to serving the needs of her family didn't stop at providing shelter and nourishment. By raising them in church, she also made sure they knew how to look to the Lord to meet their spiritual needs, which was most important to her and Jay.

Her garden was hard work, and it was also her hobby. Most of her grandchildren can recall walking between the rows of Granny's garden and learning about perseverance, her love for them, and that no matter what ''you'd better not step on Granny's rows''! Doris also loved to cook. On holidays her family always looked forward to her cornbread dressing and pies.
There is much debate about which of Granny's pies was best, but everyone agrees that she made the most beautiful meringues to top her Coconut Cream, Chocolate, and Lemon. She valued time with her family and loved to travel. She was always tickled when her son-in-law asked her to join him for a trip.

Many will remember Doris as a sweetheart, and she often was. However, Doris was as spirited as she was kind. She was fiercely defensive of both her convictions and those she loved. Her nearest and dearest appreciated that they never had to wonder where she stood on any matter. Her unique blend of sassy and sweet will be missed tremendously. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at the Blossoms at Mountain View for graciously caring for Doris through some of her sweetest and sassiest moments until she was called home.

Visitation will be held at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Mountain View, Arkansas at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, with Bro. Gary Ragland, Greg Swan, Rodney Hannah officiating the memorial service at 11:00 am. Burial service to follow at Fox Cemetery.

Pallbearers are CJ Rychtarik, Nathaniel Coffman, Eric Grillot, Zach Callahan, Matt Williams, Rodney Hannah and Daniel Littell.

Honorary Pallbearers are The Staff of The Blossoms at Mountain View.

Roller Crouch Funeral Homes is in charge of the arrangements.

I checked the obits before I went to bed and was so moved that we lost our dear Sister Swan. I can not say that I was sad because I know where she is now and without pain of this life. She was a dear sweet lady that I met working at Walmart and she helped me so much....... always with a kind word and a warm welcoming ear to listen to others. My life has been sweeter knowing Brother and Sister Swan. I will pray for the family and all the many friends that they have known.
