of Spring, TX
June 23, 1950 - December 5, 2025
Shelley Ray Mize of Spring TX, passed away in her sleep on Friday, December 5, 2025, after a long hospital stay. She was 75 years old.
Shelley was born June 23, 1950 to Ray and Gene Tedford of Benton, AR. She was raised there along with her younger brother and sister, Gary and Laurie. She was a member of Highland Heights Church where she came to know and love Jesus at a young age.
Shelley graduated from Benton High School in 1968, where she was captain of the world-famous Pepsteppers. She then attended Ouachita Baptist University, where she earned a master's degree in English. She returned to Benton where she taught 8th grade English at Eastside Jr. High and started the dance team there, which is still active today.
At this time, she met a handsome football coach at Benton High School named John Mize. They soon married and she began her life as a coach's wife and teacher all around Texas - including Austin, Lubbock and Houston areas.
Shelley and John had 3 children together - Megan, Morgan and Josh. She loved each of them dearly and was their greatest supporter in life. From dance classes and football practices to broken hearts and loss - she was always there for them.
Shelley loved good books, frozen cokes, butterflies, anything purple, clever sarcasm and correcting your grammar. But her greatest joy in life was being Nana to Cade, Jace, Grayson and Zoey.
She is preceded to Heaven by her parents, Ray and Gene Tedford; her daughter, Morgan Mize and her granddaughter, Madison Mize. She is survived and remembered with love by her husband of 51 years, John Mize; her daughter, Megan Campos and husband Nathan; her son, Josh Mize; her 4 grandchildren, Cade Campos, Jace Cook, Grayson Mize and Zoey Mize, all of Texas. Also, by her brother, Gary Tedford and wife, Susan of Benton, AR and by her sister, Laura McGhee and husband, Tony of North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 11:00 at the Roller-Alcoa Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Brian Moore officiating.
Afterward, she will be laid to rest at Bauxite Cemetery next to her maternal grandparents and her daughter.
Visitation will be held prior to service beginning at 10:00AM until service time.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Roller-Alcoa Funeral Home of Benton.

Dear Tedford’s’ and Mize family,
I’m so very sorry for the loss of sweet Shelley.
I love the Tedford family and you can tell from the pictures there was always a lot of love, laughter and fun in their home and family gatherings. I’m so thankful for our forever home with Jesus where all things are new and perfect. Praying for your comfort and strength and peace for the days ahead. Love you all. I’m sad that I was sick and couldn’t see you all in person on the day of the funeral.
