Marvin "Chet" Chastine Bramlett

of Clinton, AR

July 12, 1938 - December 5, 2025

Marvin Chastine ''Chet'' Bramlett, 87, of Clinton, Arkansas passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025. He succumbed to multiple health issues after a brief stay in the hospital. Chet was born on July 12, 1938 in the Plant Community on Highway 110 between Botkinburg and Shirley, Arkansas. His parents were the late James ''Monroe'' and Floy (Lay) Bramlett. Chet was one of twelve children, eighth in birth order. He attended school as a boy in the Plant area until the 8th grade. In his twenties, he earned his high school GED.

Chet married Helen Maxine Harper on August 3, 1958. Together, they were married for 65 years and raised six children. He supported his family over the years by working as a logger, cattle farmer and dozer operator. He was a hard worker and did not complain about life's challenges. Along with his wife, he helped his children flourish to achieve their hopes and dreams. In retirement, he helped to build the home his wife had always wanted.

Chet was known for his love of music. He loved playing his guitar and singing both gospel and country songs. Throughout his adult years on many weekends, he would gather with his siblings and brother-in-law, Carlisle Ramey for family musicals. He was often asked to attend local church or social gatherings as well as many funerals to play his guitar and sing. Chet attended church at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church where he proudly served as their song leader for several years.

Chet was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing. From the 1970's through early 2000, he was known for his Treeing Walker coon dogs and their championships all over the state of Arkansas. He often traveled to surrounding states for his dogs to compete in bigger hunts. His crowning moments were being recognized as a Little World Coon Hunt Champion as well as an Arkansas State Champion. While chasing his hopes of bagging a big buck, he spent his last few days on this earth doing something that he loved.

Chet was a competitive sportsman. He was very athletic and loved all type of competition that his family would engage him. He lived for the annual family Christmas Hillbilly golf tournament. He didn't care who showed up to play, he was going to win. He played his favorite indoor game of Mexican Dominoes with no mercy for the ones playing with him! Chet often rounded up several of his family members to go play golf at a local course. Chet loved his Arkansas Razorbacks above all other teams, college or professional. It did not matter the season, he would watch or listen to the games on the TV or radio. He could recall so much detail about the games, key players and coaching staff when talking to you.

Along with this ability to recall, Chet had a sense of humor and was a great story teller. He could entertain you for hours with stories from his youth or coon hunts that left you either laughing or shaking your head in disbelief!

Chet is preceded in death by his parents; his wife and the following Bramlett siblings: Martin, Louis, Lonzo, Buster, JC (infant), Willard, Nettie Jo (Kirkendoll) and Robert. Living siblings are Melvin, Donald Gene and Betty (Ramey Wilson).

Chet is survived by his six children: Alice (Kent Williams), Michael (Paula Carlton), Janet (Rocky Lauer), Teddy, Greg (Lisa Levy) and Rob (Kim Passmore). He has 12 grandchildren: Michael Paul Bramlett, Lacey Lauer Willard, Hayden Williams, Travis Lauer, Mickey Bramlett, Brodie Williams, Marcus Bramlett, Jordan Bramlett, Carson Bramlett, Hannah Bramlett, Avery Bramlett and Aly Bramlett. He has 13 great grandchildren and counting!

All Funeral services will be handled by Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Clinton. His Funeral will be on Tuesday, December 9th, with viewing beginning at 10:00 am at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am. Burial will follow immediately at Bradford Cemetery. Funeral Services will be conducted by his Pastor, Charles Deckelman.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting all donations to be sent to Bradford Cemetery Fund. Attention: Renee Brown, 693 4th St., Shirley, AR 72153.

The family of Chastine thanks you for all your prayers, kind words and support during this time of great loss of their Daddy and Poppa Chet.

I’m sorry to hear of Chet’s passing. I have many fond memories of growing up with him in church and occasionally playing the piano as he led congregational singing. He loved the old traditional hymns back then. I’m sure he’s already singing those praises in Heaven. Prayers for you all.

My husband, Paul Lay, and I always enjoyed visiting with Chet and his family at family reunions, and other times as well. We always enjoyed "making music" with them.
I remember him telling us about helping build Lake Eufaula in Oklahoma.
Love and prayers to his family and loved ones for peace and consolation during the days ahead.
