Helen Shaffer, 88, of Mountain Home passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2025. She was born January 20, 1937 in Heber Springs to the late Herman and Rena Horton. She was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed spending her time loving and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Tom) Meadows; three grandchildren, Allyson (Skyler) Wintle, Courtney (Casey) Cox and Joseph Meadows; three great grandchildren, Anabelle Riney, Cameron Cox and Ryan Wintle; sister, Betty Shinn and her daughter-in-law, Sharon Shaffer. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Shaffer; her son, Steven Shaffer; her parents and brothers, Roy and Harrison Horton.

We loved Nana and will miss her so much. She, Steven and Papa are all together. Such a loss for the kids but they have such wonderful memories.

I just wanted to extend my sincere condolences to you. Helen taught me many things when I was a new nurse. She was always patient and kind to me as well as to the other patients. I also remember her berries in her back yard that she always shared. I know you will miss her but I also know you have many wonderful memories to help on the days you are really missing her.
