Johnnie Ruenelle McElroy, age 86, of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this earthly life on Saturday, November 29th, 2025 at Highland Court in Marshall, Arkansas with friends by her side. She was born in Harrison, Arkansas on February 11th, 1939 to John Lewis Bolen and Dottie Sinyard Bolen. Ruenelle was married to Vardry ''Red'' Lee McElroy for 38 years before his death in 2018.
Ruenelle worked for many years at Flintrock Shirt Factory in Marshall. She loved working on the farm and caring for her cattle until her health no longer allowed. Her independent spirit and strong work ethic will live on in those who knew her best.
Survivors include several cousins and extended family. Ruenelle is preceded in death by her parents, John and Dottie Bolen; her husband, Vardry ''Red'' McElroy; aunts, Bessie Sarratt, Etta Harris and Hazel Campbell; one infant aunt, Clara Bolen and one uncle, Clyde Omage Bolen.
Funeral services for Ruenelle will be 2:00 PM Thursday, December 4th, 2025 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Shane Horton officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 till 2:00 PM preceding the service. Burial will be in Dongola Cemetery where Ruenelle will be laid to rest beside her husband, Red McElroy. Friends and family will serve as bearers.

I am so sorry to hear of Mrs.Ruenelle’s passing. She was full of personality and she could make some delicious food. She used to cook for us when I worked for the Sheriff’s Office and we had many conversations. Rest in Peace Mrs Ruenelle, I will miss you. Prayers for the family.

One of the most interesting ladies I met after retiring and coming back to this area she remembered everyone from our child hood . I’m glad she had a good place to go when her health failed may we all be so fortunate . May she sing in heaven

So sorry to hear of Ruenelle's passing. Loved visiting with her at the Nursing Home. Such a sweet lady.

My husband and his family were lucky enough to meet Ms. Ruenelles threw a friend, and she was such an amazing, fun person that she became like family to us. She would call Cecil her boyfriend, and would always greet us with a big smile. We enjoyed our visits and time spent with her. May she rest in peace. She will be missed.

We've visited her several times while at the nursing home and she was always a sweet person and kept us updated on everything going on around. She loved and missed Omage very much but then Gwenda was there for her and she loved her dearly as well. Prayers for her family and those closest to her.

I'm really sorry to hear about Ruenelle. She was a lot of fun. She friended my mom when she went into the nursing home. They were going to sneak off, and go to Hawaii together ❤️
