"Death is not extinguishing the light; it is only putting out the lamp because the dawn has come." - Rabindranath Tagore
Alfred Dean Geaslin, 88, of Newport, Arkansas departed this life on November 24, 2025 in Searcy, Arkansas.
''Al'', as he like to be called, was born November 5, 1937 and graduated in 1955 from Tuckerman high school.
Al lived a full life, a man in constant motion. He worked on his family farm, served honorably in the military, owned and operated businesses and traveled the country a hundred times over driving 18 wheelers.
He was a quick-witted man that could tease and needle, but never out of malice. He was charming, easy to talk to and often found himself at the center of every get together. He never met a stranger and had a huge capacity to give of himself.
Al enjoyed a good western movie, spent countless hours ''piddlin'' around in his shop and never turned down the chance to spend a day in the woods with the G-L Hunting Club or a few weeks on vacation traveling the country with Arnold and Noretta.
In his down time, he loved a good game. A golf club in his hand, football playing on tv, sitting in the stands of a basketball court, playing Zelda, or most often, at the table surrounded by loved ones with a deck of cards and a stack of dominoes.
Most importantly Al Geaslin was married to his sweetheart Norma Geaslin for nearly 50 years. He adored her. They lived their life together completely. They were best friends and shared a love that cannot be measured. From the moment she left this world she spoke of how excited he would be to see her again. All he ever really wanted was to be reunited with Norma.
As we say farewell to Al here, we rejoice that he has returned to the side of the person he loved the very most. We smiled knowing that as he sat down at the table with her and looked around, he saw everyone who was eagerly waiting on him to join the card game. If I had to guess the first voice he heard when he sat down was Arnold's saying, ''What took you so long?''
Al Geaslin was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Helois Geaslin and Bessie Mae Geaslin; wife, Norma Geaslin; sons, Billy Pinckard, Alfred Geaslin Jr.; brothers, James Raymond Geaslin, Carl Ray Geaslin, Arnold Geaslin (Noretta), Terry Geaslin; sisters, LaVera Gates, Brenda Enlow and aunt, Faye Opal Red.
Survived by his children, Connie Pickney (Andy), Robert Pinckard (Gwen); brothers, Bill Geaslin (Flora), Eugene Enlow (Pat); sisters Velma Turner, Connie Gates, Carolyn Hembrey (Dickie) and Ynette Webb (John). In addition, a host of extended family members, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends.
"How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard." - A.A. Milne (Winnie the Pooh)
