of Searcy, AR
June 1, 1937 - November 14, 2025
Bobby H. Dixon, 88, of Searcy, Arkansas passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025.
Born June 1, 1937 in Collinwood, Tennessee to Freedia and Curtis Dixon, Bobby was the couple's only child. The family soon moved to Keiser, Arkansas, where Bobby excelled as a football and track star in high school. He went on to attend the University of Arkansas, where he met his beloved Janet Sherwood. The two were married and began building their family.
After a time in Arkadelphia, where Bobby continued his education at Henderson State University, the young family settled in the Malvern area, where Bobby began a long and successful career with Natural Gas Pipeline Company. While living in Malvern he and Janet welcomed their first two sons, Jim and Mark. In the late 1960s, the family moved to Conroe, Texas where their third son, Kevin, was born.
An outdoorsman at heart, Bobby was a passionate rabbit hunter who always had a pack of beloved beagles by his side. His large vegetable garden was the pride of the neighborhood and there was rarely a weekend when he wasn't fishing or cheering on his grandchildren at sporting complexes across Arkansas.
Following Janet's passing, Bobby found companionship and joy again when he married Jessie, who brought two daughters of her own into his life. Bobby embraced Jessie's daughters, their husbands and their children with the same big heart he showed his own family, folding them seamlessly into the Dixon clan and treating them as his own for many cherished years.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Freedia and Curtis Dixon and first wife, Janet Sherwood Dixon. He is survived by his wife, Jessie Dixon; three sons and their families, Jim Dixon and wife, Tammy along with their sons, Drew Dixon and wife, Katie and Bryce Dixon and wife, Kaitlyn and daughter, Baylor; Mark Dixon and wife, Michelle along with their children, Ashley Hunt and husband, Kyle with their children, Ansley and Max, Levi Dixon and wife, Haley along with their children, Brady, Mary Jane, Emersyn and George; Kevin Dixon and wife, Michelle along with their children, Luke Dixon and wife, Rachel, Abby McClung and husband, Austin along with their daughter, Blakely; Jessie's daughters and their families, Karen Desmarais and husband, Brian; Karol Hilker and husband, John along with their children, John Spencer Hilker and wife, Victoria, Kirt Hilker and wife, Selena.
Bobby was a long-time member of Searcy First Methodist Church and a beloved member of his Sunday School Class: The Cross.
Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, November 22nd at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy. Visitation will precede the Service at 11:00 AM also at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Searcy area youth sports programs, Special Olympics or the charity of your choice in Bobby's memory.
A man who lived fully, loved deeply and left the world better than he found it, Bobby Dixon will be missed, but his stories, his laughter and his legacy will live on in all who knew him.
