of Flippin, AR
March 29, 1928 - November 5, 2025
Edna O'Neal Little (Caves) was born March 29, 1928 in Lumberton, North Carolina to Thomas Lamar Caves and Eva Lee Caves (Brown). Edna had one brother, Thomas L Caves III.
When World War II started Edna, who was 13 years old at the time, was too young to work. Undaunted by this fact she promptly lied to the US Government to obtain her social security card and secured her first job as a soda jerk at the US Army base at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. With her very first paycheck she bought a lovely Bulova watch which still keeps time.
Edna later moved to Baltimore, Maryland and worked in the post exchange at Fort Meade. While there she sold a carton of Kool cigarettes to movie star, Irene Dunn.
While on a trip to Norfolk, Virginia, her brother, Tom (US Navy, LST 472) introduced her to her future husband, Elton Ray Little, (US Navy, USS Taconic). Edna met Ray at the penny arcade. Ray and Edna were married September 25, 1946 and were married for 64 years until Ray passed away February 18, 2010.
After they were married, Ray and Edna lived in Texas for a short time before relocating to Connecticut.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Ray and brother, Thomas. And is survived by her son, Stanley Little (Donna) of Oakland, Arkansas and granddaughter, Julie Little of Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Edna has had many roles in her life including: loving wife, Red Cross volunteer, Cub Scout Den Mother and church choir member. But her greatest roles are the ones she most recently filled: Mother and Grandmother.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, December 6th at 3 pm at Christian Church of Mountain Home (1365 Eastside Centre Court).
