of Mountain Home, AR

October 2, 1953 - November 4, 2025

Cynthia Lavon (Fowlkes) South was born to LeRoy and Lavonne (Wheelock) Fowlkes on October 2, 1953 in Independence, Iowa. She was welcomed into the Lord's loving arms on November 4th, 2025 at the age of 72. Cyndi, as she preferred, graduated from Cedar Falls High School in Cedar Falls, Iowa in 1972. She was very active in family and Church. It was her faithfulness that led her to meet the love of her life, J. Robert South at Black Hawk Rollerdrome in Cedar Falls, Iowa on a Friday night out with friends. They shared in their Bible studies, often sitting at the Waterloo Airport for hours watching the airplanes fly in and out, reading the Bible together and getting to know one another. They were married just a few months later on January 27, 1973 in Waterloo, Iowa. Cyndi helped support and fuel her husband's passion for evangelism and followed him to Tampa, Florida, as well as Waikiki, Hawaii, where they led their Church, The Jesus Church.

Cyndi was a devoted stay at home mother, always doting on her husband and children. She worked only briefly outside of the home at Kentucky Fried Chicken and Wal-Mart Stores, both in Waterloo, Iowa. In 2016, after Robert's retirement, they moved to the last home they would live in, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. They both continued to be very involved in ministry at New Horizon Church of God, with Cyndi continuing work as the office secretary.

Cyndi, affectionately known as ''Nini'' to her grandchildren and everyone that knew her, enjoyed shopping, crafting, baking, playing games with Don and Almeta Dow and being a support system to her friends and family in times of need.

Cyndi is survived by her brother, Jim Fowlkes (Cheryl) of Plymouth, Minnesota; her sister, Sherry Trustin (Nole) of Parkersburg, Iowa; 3 children, Martena Stiefel of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Shad South (Raven) of Mountain Home, Arkansas and April South Crawford of Oelwein, Iowa. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, all of whom she loved and adored.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister, Josetta Kibbee.

Honorary Pallbearers: Eric Rohn, Noah Stiefel, Donnie Leedom, Austin South, William Tucker, Dallas Leedom, Randy Kibbee and Shadoe McGowan.

Visitation will be held at the Roller Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, November 8th from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 8th beginning at 11:00 am with a private burial.

You weren’t just my grandma — you were my second mother, my safe place, and my teacher. I’ll carry your love with me always. November will forever be the month you said goodbye, but never from my heart.

> With love and gratitude for all you gave. Rest easy, Grandma — your light shines on through us.

Would you like me to help you make one that sounds more personal, maybe in your voice — like something that fits the relationship you had with her

Dear Nini, you have been a really big part of who I have grown to be.
Thank you for being an amazing role model and someone I could always look up to. <3
