Frances A. Bryant

of West Memphis, AR

December 21, 1939 - October 21, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frances (Ward) Bryant of West Memphis, AR. A loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. A remarkable woman that left a lasting effect on everyone she touched. Frances was born on December 21, 1939 in Bassett, AR to Chester and Gertrue Ward. During her life she faced many battles of cancer with the courage of a lion and beat every battle. The most recent health battle was more than her body could overcome. Frances lost her latest medical battle and her life came to an end on October 21, 2025. She was 85 years old.

Frances could walk into a room and the world felt softer and brighter. She had a smile and a laugh that would light up any room. She gave love without limits, grace without effort and joy without asking for anything in return. Losing her feels like losing the sun - but her light will live on in her children, family and anyone that was blessed by her friendship. Frances was a rare soul. She carried a quiet strength, a radiant kindness and a spirit that made you feel like home. She gave more than love - she gave light. And now, though she's gone, the light remains in every memory, every lesson and everyone she touched. Her absence is felt deeply, but so is her legacy. She will be greatly missed by all.

Frances is preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Bryant; sons, Terry Smith and Kenny Smith; brothers, Bobby Ward and Tommy Ward; sister, Lois Barnes and her parents, Chester Ward and Gertrue (Childers) Ward.

She leaves two sons, Rickey (Carolyn) Smith of Oran, MO and Mike Smith of West Memphis, AR; along with one daughter, Chris Harrison of Pahrump, NV. She has ten grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren, who will carry her love and memory forward.

Frances's absence will be deeply felt, but her light and legacy will continue to guide all who were fortunate enough to know her.

I'm brokenhearted to hear about Frances. I got to know her through working at the WM Library and she quickly became my favorite patron and friend. I always looked forward to her visits and our many long talks. Frances was the strongest, most vibrant person I know. She and her smile will definitely be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Mrs. Bryant was one of my favorite patrons at the West Memphis Public Library. I loved chatting with her when she would pop in to drop off the stack of books she had read and and grab a new stack. Godspeed lovely lady.

You were more than a sister in law to me. I hate we weren't in touch the last several years, but I always loved you and will miss you. God got another angel, fly high.
