Randy Dean Palmer, 68, of Batesville passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
He was born April 14, 1957 in Batesville, Arkansas to Conway Eugene Palmer and Ruby Faye Reynolds Palmer.
Randy was affectionately known as Banjo and umpired for many years. He loved spending time with his family and friends and holidays and cooked a ham for every Thanksgiving. Randy played the mandolin and enjoyed doing karaoke. He was an avid Razorback fan and enjoyed watching March Madness. He also enjoyed hunting and going to the river.
Survivors include one son, Alex Palmer; one daughter, Stephanie Palmer; two brothers, Donald Palmer (Sandra) and Ronald Palmer (Sadie) and three aunts, Veda Barnett, Betty Palmer and Sharon Palmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers are Jace Grigsby, Tanner Sherril, Bob Zumwalt, Jerry Wadkins, Doyle Wade and Alex Palmer. Honorary pallbearers will be the City of Batesville Parks Department.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00pm Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Batesville Community Center with Mayor Rick Elumbaugh, Lowen Lermitte and Chris Vines speaking. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery with Steve Nichols officiating under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00pm Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at the Batesville Community Center prior to service.
Randy's dedication to Batesville Parks and the Batesville Municipal Golf Course was one of the cornerstones of his life. To continue his important legacy, the family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the newly established Randy Palmer Memorial Fund. All donations will be used to promote and enhance the recreational activities he worked so tirelessly to support.
