Elinor Mae Cherry

of Mountain Home, AR

October 20, 1923 - October 16, 2025

Elinor was born in Houston, Texas, the only child of Bertha and Stephen Garvey. Married to husband Vonner in 1947, the Cherrys spent 10 years in Venezuela having many adventures. They eventually moved to Mountain Home in 1964 where Elinor enjoyed living for 61 years.

Elinor was a super gardener, great cook and most of all an ace needlepointer. She enjoyed doing her stitching and tending her
plant collection, even after she moved to Lake Forest Senior Living in April 2024. Thanks to their wonderful staff Elinor formed many friendships and enjoyed her time there, all the while making many needlepoint gifts for the special people in her life. If you have a piece of her needlepoint you know she thought a lot of you.

Elinor is survived by family - Lisa Cherry and husband Craig; Roberta Heldenbrand and husband David; Kara McCleary; Audra Dionicio; Kristen Kemp and dear friends Penny Ellis and Cheryl Phelps.

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Services will be private.

She was always like a mother to me..we would look at each other's and enjoy how they were growing...she'd ask why my masters grew so high...ide ask why your flowers growing so high She once told me that I was good at my gardening because it was my tranquility..she was right! One time after I moved she stayed she missed seeing me out there and cats peaking out! I'll never forget you!!!

There was no one like Mrs. Cherry! She always spoke her mind, which I respected more as I got older. She was so smart and interesting! She is missed and we will always remember her.

She was my friend for two years at the nursing home. I was honored to bring some catus flowers for her room.
Elinor was a miracle woman who love life and always willing to share a smile or thought with you.

God Bless America for this woman of faith.
