Larrie Thompson, beloved mother, grandmother, devoted sister and loyal friend, passed away on October 12, 2025. She was born Larrie Kay Gouldman in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1941. She graduated from Mount St. Mary Academy and the University of Dallas. In 1963, Larrie married her high school sweetheart, James Ohlemeyer and they raised two daughters in Los Angeles, California.
In 1987, Larrie returned home to Little Rock and began a fulfilling career with Central Arkansas Library System. She rose from administrative assistant to associate director level, helping build new libraries across the region. Her work reflected her lifelong love of books and the deep friendships she formed with coworkers who shared that passion.
Larrie was known for her quiet strength, sharp mind, spunky spirit, generous heart and wicked editing skills. She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Pegie Larrison and her second husband, Ben Thompson. She is survived by her daughters, four grandchildren and a nephew, who will always remember her kindness, wisdom and enduring grace. In lieu of a memorial service, Larrie invites you to commit an 'extraordinary act of kindness' in her honor.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the exceptionally wonderful souls at Hospice Homecare, whose skilled care and unending compassion filled Larrie's final months with comfort and love.

Larrie was a brilliant woman and my mentor in the Central Arkansas Library System. She had an understate sense of humor and a gift for knowing the right thing to say at the right time. I will miss her dearly. I also knew her beloved sister Pegie Larrisin.

I was a classmate and friend of Larrie’s at Mount Saint Mary’s – – class of 1959. There was a whole group of us that had so much fun together. After high school we all went our separate ways but I did see Larrie at our class reunions which she helped to organize. She was a lovely person. My sincere condolences to her daughters and extended family. I know that you will miss her so much.

Dear Larrie, You were a great neighbor who we treasured. looking forward till we meet .again. Love, Henry and Marilyn Lile

Larrie was my step mother and I loved her. I think back when she married my dad and how lucky we were to get to know her and her two girls. She was great and was a strong partner of my dad’s. I thought they were a great team and she helped him build his business that we continue on today, working with companies and courts. She was so very smart! I valued her wisdom, friendship, and her encouragement in life as we continued on without my dad. I am sad that she’s gone but know she left two wonderful ladies that I still consider family. What a remarkable life.
