Michael Earl Hooten, 78, of Denver, Colorado passed away on 30 September 2025. He was born on 22 August 1947 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to the late Herbert Earl Hooten and Zola Wallace Hooten. He was a retired boating and sporting goods salesman and veteran of the Arkansas National Guard. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Theo Daniel Hooten.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Ann Hooten of Denver, Colorado and his daughter, Leah Michelle Hooten and son-in-law, Mark Alan O'Clair of Baltimore, Maryland.
Mike was gregariously entertaining and loved embellishing his stories a bit for the effect. He was very athletic and paid his way through college on a football scholarship. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the Denver Broncos. In retirement, he also enjoyed sitting in his chair and watching the boat traffic on Stoney Creek.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00AM, at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Greenbrier, Arkansas on 1 November 2025. A burial will immediately follow the service at Copperas Springs Cemetery in Guy, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Mike's name to the Colorado School of Mines Scholarship Fund.

Mike was a dear friend for many years. Dave and Mike had many years of enjoyment fishing and hunting together. They had a number of great stories they loved to share and were great friends. My sincere condolences to Laura, Leah and Mark. They were his world. Love ❤️

I grew up with Laura from 2nd grade through high school SHS class of 65..
I have seen her and Mike at high school reunions and had lunch with them in Broomfield about 5 years ago.
