He is survived by his wife, Laura Ann Hooten of Denver, Colorado and his daughter, Leah Michelle Hooten and son-in-law, Mark Alan O'Clair of Baltimore, Maryland.

Mike was gregariously entertaining and loved embellishing his stories a bit for the effect. He was very athletic and paid his way through college on a football scholarship.
