Ola Marie Herekamp

of Searcy, AR

July 2, 1935 - September 23, 2025

Ola Marie Herekamp, 90, of Conway, Arkansas, was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ during the early morning hours of September 23rd, 2025. Marie was born on July 2nd, 1935, to Pearlie Mae Acree in Georgetown, Arkansas. On May 5th, 1942, she was given a daddy of her own, as she put it, when her mother married Carl Cicero Good. Most importantly, Marie found her heavenly Father on September 18th, 1960, at the Kensett First Baptist Church, where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized the same day in the Little Red River.

Marie was a proud mother of four sons- Cary Shirley, Richard Andrews, David Andrews, and Daniel Bounds. She was also a hard worker, traveling widely with her sons wherever there was work to be found, and resided for a time in Texas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Georgia, Illinois, and Ontario, Canada. Later in life, she returned home to Arkansas, where she completed her education and graduated from the University of Central Arkansas, where she studied to become a licensed practical nurse, and went to work caring for others at the White County Hospital in Searcy, Arkansas.

After her retirement from nursing, she married Keith Wayne Herekamp on January 15th, 1985. Marie and Wayne lived in Conway, Arkansas, where she ran a daycare from their home while Wayne drove trucks and raised cattle. Marie truly loved the children she cared for and operated her daycare for over 25 years- sometimes caring for the children of some of her original daycare kids. Marie also attended church services at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Conway, Arkansas, where she remained a member until her passing.

In 2020, Marie moved to Warwick, New York, to live with her youngest son Daniel and his wife, Sherrye, where she remained until August 2025. Failing health and brought her back home to Searcy, Arkansas, where she lived at The Crossing until she went to be with her Lord.

Marie truly loved Jesus and wanted everyone to know how He saved her and changed her life. She wanted all she met to receive the same saving grace that she received and is fellowshipping with her Lord and all that went before her, and if you're reading this then she is encouraging you to surrender your life to Christ so that you, too, can experience what she is experiencing today. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Pearlie Good; her husband, Wayne Herekamp; and sisters Jeanette Freeman and Linda Johnson. Marie is survived by her sons, Cary Shirley (Brenda), Richard Andrews (Peggy), David Andrews (Sarah), Daniel Bounds (Sherrye), her sister, Nancy Hodges and her brother Leonard Good as well as eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Marie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 26th, 2025, at the Dogwood United Methodist Church in Griffithville, Arkansas. Interment will be held at the Dogwood Cemetery, where her earthly body will be laid to rest next to her husband, Wayne, to await the resurrection. A visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25th, at the Roller Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy, Arkansas.
