Dr. Elvin Lloyd Norris, 88, of Beebe, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, surrounded by his three sons. A beloved family medicine physician, Dr. Norris faithfully served the Beebe community for over 40 years and was a trusted caregiver to generations of families.
He was born on November 1, 1936, in Conway, Arkansas, to Ruth Edna (Burge) and Hollie Benton Norris. Raised during the Great Depression, Lloyd experienced the hardships of losing his father at a young age, relying on the support of his family and community. He graduated from Conway High School, where he was a letterman in football and basketball.
Lloyd went on to attend Hendrix College, where he earned a reputation as one of the most outstanding all-around athletes in school history. He received All-AIC honors in football as a defensive standout and favored pass receiver. He led the Hendrix basketball team in scoring and also earned All-AIC honors. On the track team, he placed in the 880-yard run three years in a row, contributing to an AIC championship. He was a proud member of the H Club and graduated in the class of 1958. In recognition of his achievements, he was inducted into the Hendrix College Sports Hall of Honor in 2005. He maintained a lifelong passion for sports, especially basketball and golf, and was a dedicated supporter of local athletics.
After college, Dr. Norris served with distinction in the United States Navy. He later earned his medical degree with honors from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine in 1965. He began his medical practice in Beebe shortly, thereafter, becoming a fixture in the community through his decades of compassionate care at the Beebe Family Clinic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Alvin O Norris, Ervin EA Norris, Janelle Norris Schultz, and Lewis Benton Norris.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Norris of Cabot; and three sons: Dr. Lloyd Parker Norris and wife Wendy of Conway; Kyle Brooks Norris and wife Kimberly of Marietta, Georgia; and Dr. Brian Blake Norris and wife Becky of Little Rock.
Dr. Norris is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren: Anna Rawls and husband Kevin, along with their five children, all of Conway; Ian Norris and wife Tabitha of Marietta, Georgia; Amanda Norris of Marietta, Georgia; Austin Norris and wife Taylor of Conway; Conley Grayson Edwards and husband Sam of Charleston, South Carolina; Greer Norris of Little Rock; and Camp Norris of Little Rock.
Dr Norris' life will be celebrated with a private family memorial; in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at cancer.org
