James Arthur ''Buddy'' Newton, 83, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025 in Conway, Arkansas.
Born on March 11, 1942 in Darlove, Mississippi, Buddy was the son of Benjamin Isaac Newton and Ida Lee Blackley. He grew up alongside his siblings and carried with him a strong work ethic and deep devotion to family throughout his life.
Buddy built a long and respected career as a Tool and Die maker, working across Mississippi, Tennessee and Arkansas. His skill and dedication to his craft were well known among colleagues and friends alike. Whether at work or at home, he had an extraordinary ability to fix anything, a talent that became one of his most cherished traits among those who knew him.
A member of the Choctaw Church of Christ, Buddy's faith was a guiding force in his life. He found joy in worship and community and remained steadfast in his beliefs throughout the years.
Above all else, Buddy loved his family deeply and unconditionally. He was a proud father to nine children: James Newton Jr. (Karen), Natalie Barile (Pete), Paige Puckett (Cary), John Newton (Debra), Stephanie Cody (Tommy), Bernie McAleese (Amanda), Johnathon Newton (Robin), Anthony Newton and Jaime Newton. His legacy continues through fifteen grandchildren, Amy, James III, Abby, Sean, Cole, Beau, Elijah, Isaiah, Kylie, Brantley, Laken, Layna, Prayleigh, Ayla and Rylett and five great-grandchildren: Shelby, Bennett, Brooks, Daxton and Xavier.
Buddy is also remembered by his sister, Dianne Bennett and brother, Bennie Newton. He shared a lasting bond with Tammy Newton, his best friend and former wife, who is the mother of four of his sons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Nell Lupo and Jack Newton; father-in-law, Milton Williamson; his second wife, Carolyn Newton and grandson, Daulton Finlayson.
Buddy's happiest moments were spent surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Family gatherings were filled with laughter and love, times he treasured above all else. His hands were rarely still, whether repairing something broken or lending support to someone in need, he gave freely of himself without hesitation.
May the memory of James Arthur ''Buddy'' Newton bring comfort to all who knew him. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched with kindness, strength and unwavering love for family. A Memorial Service will be held on September 20, 2025 at 06:00 PM at Choctaw Church of Christ, 233 AR 330 Hwy E

Prayer for peace and understanding

The Martin family move to Benton Arkansas when I was 14 years old. They were our first neighbors. Fond memories.

He was a great friend and father figure. I will never forget him or the advice he has given me over the years. I never knew him to ever turn any one away in their time of need. The world needs more people like Buddy Newton. My deepest condolences for his family.
