October 13, 1939 - September 12, 2025

Burness ''Nubbin'' Stoner, 85, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by one sister, Gussie McCracken of West Plains, Missouri and his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Burness was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Willie Hicks Stoner and one sister, Mary Treat.

Born on October 13, 1939, Nubbin lived a life marked by faith, hard work and devotion to his family, community and country. He was a proud father to Michael (Anita) Stoner, Michelle (Jack) Curtis and David (Lisa) Stoner. He was the cherished grandfather of Kelvin (Tricia) Stoner, Kylee (Brad) Beard, Shawn (Montana) Curtis, Kleighton (Courtney) Stoner, Travis (Alexa) Stoner, Clifford Dale Curtis, Lynsie (William) Treat and McKane Alexander Curtis.

He served faithfully as a deacon and Sunday School leader at church and gave generously of his time as a school board member and booster club supporter. He worked as a contractor and owned Nubbin's Fishing Guide Service. Later, he and Joann opened up and ran Nubbin's Restaurant here in Flippin. He finally ended his working career by retiring from Ranger Boats and spending many days on the lake fishing and hunting in the woods. Above all, Nubbin was a strong Christian man who lived out his faith daily. He was loving, caring, giving, compassionate and humble, a true example to all who knew him. His life was a testament to faith, family and service and he will be deeply missed
.
His legacy continues through his 13 great-grandchildren. Nubbin was a man of many talents and passions. He loved hunting, fishing and cheering on his favorite sports teams, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, Sept. 17th at the Roller Burns Chapel, 725 N. Panther Ave., Yellville, AR. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, Sept. 18th at First Baptist Church, 721 Alford St, Flippin, AR. Interment will follow at Flippin Cemetery.

To David and all your family, we are sorry for your loss and will be praying for you. Not knowing your father and having a chance to read about him. I'm sure I would have enjoyed fishing with him. Sounds like a wonderful man. God bless you all!

Nubbin will be greatly missed. He was a kind man and so humble about everything. He knew a lot about a lot of things and was never condescending to those who didn't and sought his advice. Ranger Boats didn't know what they had in him. He was a fierce and loyal friend and stood up for all of them when they weren't around. His empathy toward others was unmatched. Hug Kenny's neck for us and y'all do your best to stay out of trouble. Heaven won the day he went home, no doubt about it!
