Juanita Joyce Morton

of Little Rock, AR

September 26, 2025 - September 11, 2025

Juanita Joyce Morton, age 89 of Little Rock, Arkansas, formerly of Shreveport, Louisiana, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 11, 2025.

Born to her late parents Luther M. Ritter and Willie Mae Ritter of Wellington, TX on September 26th, 1935. She was raised in Bend, Oregon and later moved to Vernon, TX, where she met her late husband of 68 years, Preston Morton. Juanita had a gift for making those around her feel cherished and deeply loved. She lived a life marked by faith, family, and service. Together with her husband, she built a legacy of love and devotion that continues to bless their family today.

For much of her career, Juanita worked as an Administrative Assistant with the Iowa Park Tax Office and Savings and Loan, where she was known for her kind and loving personality and being an example to follow for her coworkers. Beyond her professional life, Juanita found great joy in creating memories with those she loved. Trips to Colorado, concerts with her son, David, shopping trips with her granddaughter, Jessica, and spending time with her great-grandchildren brought her immense joy and purpose. She Loved NASCAR and the Cathedral Quartet. Often traveling with her cousin Gene and his wife Nancy Barton, who was more like her sister, to see concerts at every opportunity. She also loved sports, especially women's basketball and was an avid LSU and Louisiana Techsters fan for much of her life. She and her husband, Preston, also dedicated themselves to the ministry of their church. In their early married years, she poured her heart into guiding, teaching and encouraging young people in their youth group ministry as well as singing in the church choir. Juanita also taught Sunday school for many years.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Philippians 3:13-14 says, ''Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.'' As a devoted Southern Baptist, Juanita's love for the Lord shined through her life in her service, and the way she cared for everyone by putting their needs above her own. She was always willing to share her love of Christ with everyone she met, so they too might know this love and have the gift of eternal life.

Juanita is survived by her loving son, David Morton of Little Rock; her granddaughter, Jessica Tate, and her husband, Tyler Tate of Nixa, MO; as well as three great-grandchildren, Nathan, Leah, and Seth, who brought her endless joy and pride.
Though she has left this earthly home, Juanita's spirit lives on in the lives of those she
knew. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

''To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.'' 2 Corinthians 5:8
