of Conway, AR
March 2, 1944 - September 2, 2025
On March 2, 1944 in Enola, Arkansas, a life full of love, hard work and devotion began with the birth of Donald Marion ''Sonny'' Hill to Donald Haydon Hill and Francis Jewell Starr Hill. Surrounded by his family, he peacefully passed away on September 2, 2025 at Baptist Health Springhill in North Little Rock, Arkansas.
Don was a man who lived with purpose and heart, never afraid of hard work and always ready to lend a helping hand. He graduated from Conway High School in 1961 and immediately started at Pines Vo-Tech School in Pine Bluff, Arkansas where he studied Drafting. Soon after, he began his career at Prince Gardner and was there until its closure in 1964. He then pursued his passion for cars by studying auto mechanics at Petit Jean Vo-Tech.
His passion for automobiles led him to open Central Auto Sales, where he poured his heart into helping others find cars they loved. When that chapter closed, he proudly followed in his father's footsteps, creating D & S Construction, where his skill as a carpenter and dedication to his craft left lasting marks on countless homes and lives. Even after retiring, his restless spirit and love for cars brought him back to work alongside Trent Fuller at R & T Auto. He never lost his excitement for rebuilding and restoring cars of every kind, his joy was found in every project that came through his hands.
Above all, Don was a family man. He found his greatest pride in his daughters, Wendy Casher (Kenny) of Corpus Christi, Texas and Amanda Hill (Shanon) of Sherwood, Arkansas. He was also blessed with three bonus grandchildren, Austin Casher (Mattie) of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Cody Casher (Alexis) of Conway, Arkansas and Kaylee Casher (Joe) of Conway, Arkansas.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; his sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Bob Ussery and a host of beloved aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his daughters, his bonus grandchildren, his sister and brother-in-law, Beth Ann and Wayne Mitchell and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He will always be remembered for his deep love of family, his tireless work ethic and his passion for life's simple joys, especially cars. His legacy of love, craftsmanship and devotion lives on in the family he so deeply cherished.
He will be profoundly missed, but the memories he leaves behind will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, Arkansas to honor and celebrate a life well lived. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
