Edward "Mack" McCoy Newman

of Conway, AR

December 1, 1941 - August 29, 2025

Edward McCoy Newman "Mack" stepped into heaven on August 29, 2025, in Baptist Hospital at Little Rock.

He was born December 1,1941 in Wilburn Arkansas. He is survived by his wife of 22.5 years, Velma "Jean"(Brent) Newman of Mayflower; by his 6 stepchildren; by his sister, Mary Newman Strickland and husband, Hank of Shannon Hills, and several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney M. Newman and Lula "Ethel" Newman, of Wilburn; his 4 siblings, Bonnie Mae Newman of Wilburn, Betty Lou Newman Harris and husband, Ernest of Wilburn, Gean Newman Hazelwood and husband, Albert of Heber Springs, and brother, Robert Newman and wife, Irene of Wilburn Arkansas.

Mac served 4 years in the Army during the Vietnam War. He was a mechanic. He was good at this, as it was one of his favorite hobbies. He also loved to deer hunt…just put him in the woods and he was at home.

He had a long career. He worked for Barq's Bottling Company when he returned from Vietnam in 1970 and continued until they were bought out by Coca Cola where he retired in 2002.

He was a long-standing member of Northside Apostolic Church in Mayflower. His love for God, his church family and Pastor showed more than anything in his life.

Visitation will be held at noon on Thursday, August 4, 2025, with funeral service following at 1:00pm at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Burial with military honors will be at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock, on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 10:00am.
