Lila Brewer Williams, cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother & great grandmother, was born in Oakman, Walker County, Alabama on Sunday, February 3, 1929. Lila Brewer married Arlen Williams, on Tuesday, October 7, 1952. The ceremony took place at the home of Gus Nichols, Minister of the Sixth Avenue Church of Christ in Jasper, Alabama.
Both Lila & Arlen grew up in Walker County & attended Walker County High School in Jasper. As a young adult, Arlen was an US Air Force Sergeant in the Korean War. While he was home on leave, Arlen met Lila, at the Woolworth Store in Jasper where she worked. She was also employed at Southern Bell Telephone & Telegraph Company in Birmingham. Upon Arlen's honorable military discharge he was employed for 44 years at Pan American World Airways, Miami, Florida. Lila lost her beloved husband of 41 years on Sunday, October 3, 1993. Arlen was interred on Thursday, October 7, 1993 at Crestview Memorial Gardens, on what would have been their 42nd Wedding Anniversary.
As a child, Lila spent a great deal of time at the Library, pursuing her love for books. Lila's favorite book was the Bible and cookbooks. She was inquisitive about all things in life & loved to learn. Lila enjoyed using her naturally ''green thumb'' gardening & caring for the abundance of plants that God created for us. Our mother & father faithfully took us to bible class, church services & youth activities at the Hialeah Church of Christ in Hialeah, Florida & Sunset Church of Christ in Miami, Florida. Later in life, Lila also attended the Riverchase Church of Christ in Birmingham, Alabama; High Pointe Church of Christ in McKinney, Texas and the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Little Rock, Arkansas.
During her long life, Lila traveled the world when Arlen was employed & lived in five states: Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Texas & Arkansas. She passed away at the age of 96 in Little Rock, Pulaski County, Arkansas on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Lila will return to her native Alabama and be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Arlen in the Garden of the Good Shepherd at Crestview Memorial Gardens in Adamsville, Jefferson County, Alabama.
Lila Brewer Williams was preceded in death by her parents: her father, Filmore Millard Brewer of Athens, Limestone County, AL and her mother, Delia Verdie Uptain Brewer of Adamsville, Jefferson County, AL. Lila was preceded in death by her siblings: her elder sister, Hassie Wilson of Adamsville, AL; her younger sister, Elsie Barton of Hoover, AL and her younger brother, Charles Dilmore Brewer of Cullman, AL. Lila was preceded in death by brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law: Buford & Linda Bennett Williams of Panama City, FL and Dessley & Bobbie Pledger Williams of Carlsbad, NM.
Survivors include her four children: Daughter, Ann Williams Pacheco (Jim) of Little Rock, AR; Daughter, Kay Williams Tackett of Fort Worth, TX; Son, Keith Douglas Williams of Miami, FL and Daughter, Joy Laine Williams of Lebanon, TN. Survivors include her seven grandchildren and one great grandchild: Granddaughter, Lauren Camacho of Davie, FL; Granddaughter, Janelle Pacheco of Fayetteville, AR; Grandson, Grayson Tackett of Dallas, TX; Granddaughter, Olivia Tackett of Silver Point, TN; Granddaughter, Marissa Pacheco of Little Rock, AR; Grandson, Andrew Mellies of Lebanon, TN; Grandson, Matthew Mellies of Lebanon, TN and Great Grandson, Asher Hawkins of Silver Point, TN.
Survivors include her loved nephews & nieces: Virginia Wilson Flowers of Gardendale, AL; Charlotte Wilson Eddings of Gardendale, AL; Gerald Williams of Pell City, AL; Mitchell Wilson of Pell City, AL; Nancy Williams Currie of Panama City, FL; Michael Wilson of Mount Olive, AL; Nathan Williams of Asheville, NC; Brenda Williams Simmons of Burleson, TX; Tim Barton of Franklin, TN; Vicki Barton Bice of Pelham, AL; Teresa Brewer Devine of Austin, TX; Daniel Williams of Carlsbad, NM and Jeffrey Brewer of Lake Charles, LA.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 am with Funeral service starting at 11:00 in Crestview Memorial Chapel in Adamsville, AL.
