Moose, as he was known by everyone, settled in Conway in 1958 and served in the Army National Guard from 1961 " 1967. He initially worked in the construction industry installing water lines before spending the next 20 years at Ward School Bus, including time in the late 1970's in Saudi Arabia training bus mechanics. After Wards, he spent 2 years working for Potter Jeep in Conway, traveling the country promoting their new fiberglass hardtop for jeeps. Known for dabbling in about anything, Moose and his late son, Jeff operated a canoe rental business at Thad Harvey's, "The Good Sport" sporting goods store. Prior to full time retirement, he traversed Arkansas and surrounding states for the former Linn's Auto Salvage driving a car hauler for 12 years. Moose was a member of Second Baptist Church, long time member of the Beaverfork Water Board and in the 1970's served as a Faulkner County reserve deputy sheriff with the water rescue team under former Sheriff Joe Martin.
Moose was an avid outdoorsman spending as much time as possible in the woods hunting deer, bear, turkey and floating the White River in Flippin fishing for rainbow and brown trout. When not hunting game, he spent time lounging on the front porch of the cabin up at The Hill with family and hunting buddies.

With my deepest sympathy. Benny and I enjoyed our times with Garlon at the River house. Praying for your family at this sad time.
This is such a sad news to all who knew Moose. He will be missed by so many and so many people loved and respected him and his knowledge of all subjects. I can still hear him raising his voice to me at deer camp and asking me Why did you shoot the smallest deer out there. To the family I will say if there is anything I could do let me know.
Moose is now pain free and looking down on all that loved him.
Rest my friend.
Save me a backstrap.
