Gladys Mae (Whitehead) Booker, 105, of Searcy passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025 at The Waterton Nursing Home in Texarkana, Texas. She was born on October 14, 1919 in Glenallen, Alabama to the late Pervie Jackson and Lizzy Gay Hosch Whitehead.

Gladys, at the age of 25, married Alfred Lee ''Buddy'' Booker. They had two kids, Elizabeth Mae and James Alfred ''Bud'', seven years apart. Gladys was a wife and mother and was the best cook ever! Due to Buddy's job with Texas Gas, they moved often, living in Eudora, Arkansas, Greenville, Mississippi, Owensboro, Kentucky, Sterling, Louisiana and retired to Searcy, Arkansas, where they were long time members of Downtown Church of Christ.

Gladys had two granddaughters, the late Dawn Marie Kittinger and Lee Ann Booker Golden. She had one great granddaughter, Raya Hope Goldman.

Left behind to cherish her memory is Elizabeth Booker Kittinger and her husband, Larry Kittinger, Bud and Lynn Booker, Ann Booker, Lee Ann Booker Goldman and husband, Kevin Goldman, Raya Goldman; her sister, Ola Whitehead Morgan; along with many nieces; nephews and other extended family members and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Emory, Vermon Lee and Talmage Whitehead and her loving husband of 54 years, Buddy; along with granddaughter, Dawn Marie Kittinger. She has been a widow for 25 years.

Funeral services will be Graveside Service at White County Memorial Gardens on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at 10:00 AM. All services are under the direction of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home.

Sweet cousin of mine. Years ago she told me many stories of my mom when they were growing up. Until just a few years ago at family reunions she showed up each morning with that hair fixed, makeup on and a big old smile on that face. She was so loved.
