Emogene Eva Duran

of Little Rock, AR

April 25, 1940 - July 11, 2025

Emogene Eva Duran went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 11th, 2025.

She was born in Conway, Arkansas on April 25th, 1940, along with her twin sister Geraldine, to Emil and Eva Thornton. Growing up in Conway she had many cousins to hang around with and it was through one of them that she met a handsome young boy who had caught her eye named Charles Duran. They began dating during High School until Charles graduated and enlisted in the Air Force and moved away. Emogene graduated high school in 1958 and then went off to Bethany College with her sister Geraldine. After her first year of college, Charles had finished his enlistment and moved back. They reconnected and were soon married on June 26th, 1959.

Charles and Emogene moved to Georgia right after they were married for Charles to start his career as an Air Traffic Controller. They welcomed daughter Sonia on March 20, 1963 and then daughter Jennifer, November 18th 1965.

Emogene loved sewing, cooking and baking and was very talented at them all! She made many matching outfits throughout the years, for her children and then her grandchildren. Emogene was the kind of mother who loved with her whole heart. She made everyone around her feel special and loved. Friends always commented that she was just like ''June Cleaver'' and she was just like her.

Charles and Emogene were fortunate enough to be able to retire early. They sold their house and began travelling the U.S. in their Airstream trailer. They joined the Airstream club and Emogene loved being a part of that community where she made many great friends and made many great memories. She would often tell of her adventures, and you could just see in her smile and hear in her voice how much she enjoyed it all.

Emogene was preceded in death by her parents, Eva and Emil Thornton. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles Duran; 2 daughters, Sonia (Dow) Worsham and Jennifer (Brad) Johnson; 5 grandchildren, Shelby (Matt) Ward, Chase and Zane Worsham, Kelsey and Lindsey Reddick; 4 step grandchildren, Macey Wadley, Rick, Amanda and Matt Johnson; 6 great grandchildren, her twin sister Geraldine Rippetoe, nephew Eric Wedel and nieces Emile Burns and Janet Stewart.

Me and Sis (Twins), 85 yrs. old. 1940. We are Miracle Babies. We weighed 2 pds,1 ounce and 2 pds, 5 ounces. We had to walk to school and then Bicycle. Mother could not drive. We had a good life. We played marbles, puzzles and did our home work. Sis went to Bethany Freshman year and then married Charles Duran. I finished College. My Sister Emogene had all of the friends. I told God after this event, I would tell my Sister every day here after, hello every day. My Sister told me she loved me before she died. We know where she is, with God and make friends there. She loved her Mother and Mother will be glad to see her. Always, Sis Gerldene Rippetoe Wedel.
