Melba Faye (Loyd) Free of Mt. Vernon, AR was born on May 16, 1938 and she passed away on July 2, 2025.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Carrel Free (Churn), where they made their home in Mount Vernon. Also preceded by her parents, Hubert Loyd and Ethel (Stell) Loyd; siblings, Ferrel Loyd and Gwindle (Burr) Loyd and one granddaughter, Kasey Addison Free.
Melba was a member of the Mt Vernon Volunteer Fire Dept. She loved her chickens and watching the squirrels.
She is survived by three children, Malinda Millsaps (Tim) of Mount Vernon, Tony Free (Dana) of Mount Vernon and Ronnie Free (Sara) of Conway; Two brothers, Bill Loyd (Rosanne) of Mount Vernon, Ricky Loyd of Mount Vernon and Janie Loyd McGaha of Holland; Grand Children, Anthony Free (Savanna), Lauren Cook, Brittany Free, Alison Butler (Keith), Kristina Spears (Wyatt), Dustyn Free, Trenton Free and Whitley Free; And 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday July 8, 2025 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church starting at 2pm with a visitation one hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will follow at Hawthickett Cemetery.
Malinda, Melba's daughter and caregiver, would personally like to thank Arkansas Hospice and especially Hannah for their excellent care.
