Alice Louise Crain

of Nixa, MO

November 20, 1937 - June 22, 2025

Alice Louise Crain, age 87, of Nixa, Missouri passed peacefully to her heavenly home on June 22nd, 2025 with family at her side. Alice is preceded in death by her loving husband 'Johnny' and an infant grandson, Christopher Schrock. She is survived by her three daughters, Sandra Hammond of Branson, Kathy Schrock (Nathan) of Harrisonville and Paula Young (Scott) of Centerton, AR, in addition to 6 grandchildren, Allyson, Justin, Rachael, Miranda, Adam and Eric. She also has 6 great-grandchildren.

Alice was born in Gaither, Arkansas on November 20th, 1937 to Dennis and Elva (Parker) Trotter. She was the third of four children.

She married John Paul Crain on August 29th, 1959 in Sacramento, California and there began raising their three daughters. They moved back to Arkansas in the early 1970's to take over Alice's parents gas/grocery store business on Hwy 7 South. Together they worked long hard days, pumping gas and selling groceries, while John also repaired car air conditioners on the side to earn a living. Alice sometimes ran the entire store when John was helping out his Dad on the farm. She often said it was her hardest job, but if there was someone who could manage it all, it was her. After they closed their store, they began selling oak furniture at the same location and in Branson. Their next adventure began by hitting the road searching out auctions to fill their 20+ flea market booths stretching from Arkansas to Central Missouri. Along the way they purchased and remodeled homes and together they made a great team! Alice was a dedicated Wife, Mother and loved a quiet lifestyle, family time, attending Church, crocheting and finding time to play their favorite card games, including Rook!

Alice accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at a young age. Although she will be greatly missed, scripture offers powerful messages of comfort for the believer. I Thessalonians 4:13-14 says ''But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.''

I am sorry to hear about Alice. I haven’t seen her since Johnny’s funeral when I was visiting in Harrison. Alice lived with us when I was a teenager. She and Johnny had their wedding reception in our house. She was always a friendly, nice person.
