of Shirley, AR
July 16, 1949 - June 12, 2025
Edward "Edd" Lee Litaker, 75, of Shirley, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at home on June 12, 2025. Born on July 16, 1949, in Wilburn, Arkansas, he was the son of Felix Edward Litaker and Donna Lee (Decker) Litaker.
A graduate of Shirley High School, Edd married Nancy Josephine Green, on September 28, 1968. He accepted Christ as his Savior as a young adult and served faithfully as a deacon at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
Edd was a true outdoorsman, working in the timber industry and in right-of-way maintenance for Arkansas Electric, later retiring from Petit Jean Electric after many years of dedicated service. He had a deep love for huntingâ€" turkey, deer, ducks, coons, foxes, coyotes, and even crows â€" and enjoyed fishing and tending to his large garden, always eager to share the harvest with family and friends.
Animals were a constant in Edd's life. Over the years, he raised everything from dogs and cows to horses, hogs, chickens, goats, and rabbits. A gifted craftsman, he built homes for his children and generously lent his skills to friends and neighbors throughout the community.
In his later years, Edd could often be found on his tractor, cutting firewood, working in the hayfield, or tinkering in his woodshop. He took pride in caring for his honeybees and enjoyed creating his own recipes, especially for deer jerky, salsa, and peanut brittle. He cherished his grandchildren, delighting in building handmade rocking chairs and other keepsakes for them.
Edd was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Jake Litaker, Marie Conklin, Glenna Mae Litaker, and Oather Litaker.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Jo; children Ladonna Gwen Rushing (Terry) and Joseph Edward Litaker; and grandchildren Layton Reeves, Autumn Gillihan (Dwight), Weston Reeves, Jaile Litaker (Maddy), and Jacob Litaker (Jena). He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Alaina Jo, Rhett, Casen Gillihan, and Freya Reeves; and step-grandchildren Kristin Marsolf (Matt) and Trenton Rushing (Rachel), along with their children Makena, Gage, Blake, Kinley, Jocelyn, and Allison.
Edd is also survived by his siblings Willa Deane Ware, Cecil Burton (Mishia), Nancy Ann Hensley, Mack Litaker (Linda), and Sue Allen (Ted), as well as special family: Dawson Hamilton, Tera Newton, Clay Bullard (Ashley), Tyler Bullard (Seraiah), Eliana, Tahlia, and Walker.
His life was marked by his unwavering faith in God, a deep devotion to his family, generosity, craftsmanship, and a love of nature. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
