William "Bill" Archer Dunkum passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on May 23, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. Born in Hope, Arkansas to Lovena and Archer Dunkum on July 5, 1935, he was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Joan Carver. Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gwen Meyer Dunkum; his sons and their wives, Chris (Sammie) and John (Robbin); his grandsons Drew Dunkum, Sam (Jaden) Dunkum, Forrest (Emily) Dunkum and Davidson Dunkum and his namesake great-grandson, Archer Dunkum.
Bill served his country in the U.S. Air Force and then earned a bachelor's degree from Little Rock University now University of Arkansas - Little Rock. He was an avid supporter of Trojan Men's and Women's basketball, holding season tickets for several decades. His professional career began at IBM before he and two fellow IBM employees founded International Computer Systems, Inc. Bill and Gwen solely owned and successfully operated the local business for 55 years before proudly handing the reins to their sons in November 2024. Bill is highly regarded in the skeet shooting community, having been a fierce competitor for nearly 40 years and winning a world championship in 2017. Bill was passionate about his church. His faith in Christ was manifested in his generosity and how he provided for his family and others.
Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday, May 27th from 6-8 pm at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home in Little Rock on Chenal Parkway. A graveside service will be held at Forest Hills Cemetery, Wednesday, May 28th at 11am, followed by a memorial service at Mabelvale Methodist Church at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mabelvale Methodist Church (10500 Woodman St., Mabelvale, AR 72103) or Blue Rock Sportsman's Club (C/O 227 Corondelet Ln., Maumelle, AR 72113). The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Elizabeth Eggebrecht and Arkansas Hospice for the compassionate care provided during his final days.

Gwen and family, we are so very sorry to learn of Bill’s passing. We always enjoyed every interaction we had with you at Skeet Shoots here in Arkansas, and also at the World Skeet Shoot in San Antonio. Prayers for comfort for all of you.
I will cherish my many memories of Bill on the skeet field and his love for my mom's oatmeal cookies. I know Bill and my dad are enjoying two low 8's in heaven and showing all the other shooters how to do it. Love to Gwen and the rest of the Dunkum family.
I have many fond memories of Bill and Gwen and trips to the lake with all the kids. There were so many good times we shared with a huge tapestry of family and friends. Bill has had a significant impact on the lives of so many people. He will be missed. My deepest sympathy to Gwen and all the family.

I have such fond memories of the Dunkum family going back over 50 years. What a wonderful generous person Bill was. I miss those days.
