I met Ping for the first time when we were both students at Purdue University. I was most impressed by this Chinese-looking kid with a thick Southern accent. Later, we became housemates with several other Chinese students in a rental house in West Lafayette. Our small group of friends and spouse have kept in touch and had reunions several times. Ping is loved by all for his cheerful personality, faithfulness to his ethnic and family relations, and his devotion to both professional and volunteers endeavors. We hope that Lucy will be comforted by the fact that good memories of Ping will be shared by all his old friends.

We feel very fortunate for having crossed paths with Ping and Lucy through work and then socially. Our friendship continued as we went through life but we always kept in contact. Ping was a great person to be in the company of. He was an accomplished individual, always a gentleman and a good friend. He cared about those around him. He will be sorely missed.

Lucy and I went to Occupational Therapy school together at TWU in Denton, Texas. We were in a clinical training setting together in San Antonio. Ping wanted to come to see Lucy there, but didn’t have a place to stay. My husband and I offered our small apartment, so got to meet him that one time before they were married. He was kind and thoughtful; even fixed us a Chinese dinner! We have kept in touch at Xmas but never really had the opportunity to know him well as many have written here. I know he will be missed on so many levels, and especially by Lucy and their son Joseph. May the peace and comfort of the Holy Spirit rest upon you as you learn to navigate this transition without him. Call me anytime, Lucy. I love you!

Wow. This is so sad and sudden. Ping was so amazing. So gentle. So encouraging. So generous. I was looking forward to coming back out to Arkansas just to see the both of you. I can't think about Arkansas without thinking of Ping. His work will keep his spirit going. I'm encouraged to keep doing my work because of people like Ping. He knew the struggle and kept the smile. We are so sad with his loss. I hope he and my father are playing Ping Pong in heaven together. I was supposed to bring my paddle to play him the next time I came in town. I was looking forward to that. Let us know how we can help.

I went to high school with Ping in Hughes Arkansas. He was a brilliant and very athletic friend. I remember him driving us to Boys State. Many years later after several trips to China on business , Ping helped me with my Chinese. I was not very good . He was a wonderful friend.

My first memory of PIng was when he came to visit my grandparents when I was a kid growing up in Hughes, AR. He was always visiting, reaching out, and keeping in touch with everyone. It has been my privilege to work with him in recent years on the Chinese Association of Arkansas. We will miss his cheerful, uplifting presence. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, and his contributions to the community will be long remembered.
