of Conway, AR
August 8, 1950 - April 25, 2025
Charles (Chuck) Ralph York, Jr., of Conway passed away peacefully April 25, 2025, in Conway, Arkansas, after a brief battle with cancer. He was 74 years old.
He was born on August 8, 1950, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Charles Ralph York, Sr. and Billye (Anderson) York, where he grew up and graduated from Little Rock Hall High School and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from the University of Central Arkansas and after graduation undertook graduate studies in audiology at Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. While at UCA, he was a member of the Arkansas National Guard and Phi Lambda Chi Fraternity, where he was named National Man of the Year.
In his sophomore year in high school, he met his future wife, Victoria Ann Buchanan, at a band competition. After several years of courtship that included weekly drives to her hometown of Searcy they were married on June 28, 1970. They travelled the ups and downs of life together for the next 54 years.
Chuck devoted his entire professional career of 37 years to the service of others through his work as an audiologist at the Conway Human Development Center, where he was widely renowned for his regular fish fries and homemade barbeque. He was an avid outdoorsman and was most at home in the woods of South Arkansas at his beloved Club 11 deer camp. He also loved to fish and camp at Greers Ferry Lake, played recreational softball for many years, and was highly active in the lives of his children as a Scoutmaster and coach. He was a fiercely devoted and loyal husband, father, and friend, and there was nothing he wouldnt do to help someone he cared for, without expecting anything in return. He was a member of Grace Methodist Church in Conway.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the gentle souls at Gentiva Hospice who helped provide loving care during the last few weeks of Chuck's life, especially Samantha Stane.
He is preceded in death by his daughters Ashley Brooke York and Jayme Marie York, his parents Charles Ralph York, Sr. and Billye (Anderson) York, his brother Thomas York, and his sister Deborah York. He is survived by his loving wife Ann, his sons Andy (Mary Claire) York and Brad York, his sister Sharon (Sonny) Sawyer, his two grandchildren Buck and Anna Kate York, his brother and sister-in-law Bill and Anne Buchanan, two granddogs Charlie and Troy, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Bill Buchanan, Tom Buchanan, Greg Griffith, Calvin Price, Mike Wilkinson, and Dal Burgess. Honorary pallbearers will be Skeet Morse and Johnny King.
Visitation will be Tuesday April 29, 2025, at 2:00 pm immediately followed by services at 3:00 at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park.

I worked with Chuck for many years at CHDC. He was a great man who touched the lives of many people in great ways. He took his job seriously, but also always had fun. It was an honor to be his friend. May your family feel God’s peace and comfort.
Thinking of and praying for your family today and always. All of you fought so hard for Chuck and I know you will miss him so much.
I pray that God will comfort you, Ann, Andy, Brad, and all your loved ones at this time of sorrow … and give you peace in the days ahead.
So sorry to learn of Chuck’s passing. We attended Pulaski Heights Elementary School and Hall High School together; I remember Chuck as a 6th grade crossing guard and as a fellow clarinet player, always with a kind and lively word for everyone. Prayers for all of his family and loved ones.
Dear Family.. Just a quick note to say we are thinking of you all. Chuck was a great guy and always a pleasure to be around. Chuck seemed to always be able to make me laugh while we were at CHDC. I guess in all the years we worked there each time a problem arose it always worked out and ended in a laugh. He was serious about his job responsibilities but also kept in mind that you have to stop and smell the roses along the way. Chuck did stop and smell the roses and made lots of friends along the way and was always kind and helpful to me and the guys at the Warehouse at CHDC.. I always appreciated him and know how he loved his family .He is with Jesus and will be waiting for you all to enter the gates as well to join him for eternity..Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Chris,Leah,Jennifer ❤️
My prayers for your loss. I went to high school and college with him. He was a great man.
On behalf of the class of 1999 of Conway High, we the classmates of Brad would like to extend our deepest condolences to Brad, Ms. Ann, and the entire York family. Personally, I knew Mr. York from the many years he and my parents worked together at CHDC and I can say that he was the same, welcoming and kind person, every time I saw him. He was dedicated to his life's work and to his family. In the times of sadness and when it seems like the darkness will never fade, remember this: the body dies, the spirit doesn't. May Mr. York's spirit live on! We love you, Brad!
