A native of Amite, La. and a resident of Yellville, Arkansas. He passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at his Home in Yellville Arkansas. He was born on October 27, 1940, in Amite, La. He passed away at the age of 84.

He is survived by his sister Annie M. Smith and his brothers, Norman H. Smith Jr., Donald L. Smith and L. Freddy Smith. His children Cheryl L. Ferriell, Laura J. Allen, Carla J. Smith, Scott Burleigh, Wayne Burleigh, Bonnie S. Swindle, Marty D. Smith, Adam L. Smith, ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by Winnie Smith, his wife of 38 years, his parents Norman Harvey Smith Sr. and Johnny Mae Smith. His son ''Jay'' Joseph L. Smith Jr. His siblings Lewis W. Smith, Norma M. Arnone, Bertie M. Smith, Ronald L. Smith and Johnny E. Smith.

His passion was serving the Lord, playing music, gardening, watching movies about old locomotive trains and spending time with his family.

He would not want you to cry over him leaving this world. He would encourage each of us to find comfort in knowing: 2 Corinthians 5:8 ''We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord''. Amen.

Arrangements by Roller-Burns Funeral Home will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Flippin Arkansas Senior Center.

So sorry to learn of Joe' passing. Joe was a wonderful neighbor and it was a pleasure to have known him all these years. He was always consistently the same and had a smile on his face. Prayers to the family.

So sorry to hear about Joes passing. I work with him a long time at the shirt factory. He was always so funny and kind always helping others. Praying for the family
