Vera Dean West

of Conway, AR

September 19, 1929 - April 16, 2024

Vera Dean West (Mama), 94, of Russellville, Arkansas went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

Vera was born to Joseph and Lillian Golden in Princeton, Alabama. She graduated from Trumann High School and shortly after graduation married the love of her life, Virgil West. They were married for 51 years and were blessed with two daughters, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her favorite times were spent with her family. Vera was a loving wife, mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. As a result of her generous spirit and sweet personality, she was loved by many. Her Christian life and godly influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her.

She loved Jesus, studying His word and was a prayer warrior. She always served in her church. Through her years in Indiana and Arkansas, she taught Sunday School, served in the bus ministry bringing children to church and sang in the choir.

She was a feisty 110 pounds of energy who loved serving and caring for others. She is known for her home-made fried peach and apple pies and fried chicken! She loved playing Yahtzee, Mexican train and working Bible word search puzzles.

Vera is preceded in death by both her parents; her loving husband and granddaughter, Amy Lynn. She is also preceded in death by brothers, Alison, Nelson, Fred, Walter, Junior and Billy and sisters, Irene and Mary.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her daughters, Shari (Arnold) Hameister and Pam (Tom) Cravens; her grandchildren, Jessica (Rashien) Ahrabli, Sarah (Will) Blanchard, Aaron (Cody) Hameister and great-grandchildren, Kiersten and Caleb Ahrabli, Leah, Allison, Hannah and Wyatt Blanchard.

A special thank you to the wonderful, loving caregivers at Superior Health and Rehab where Vera lived the last 2 ½ years, Dr. Brandon Thurow and Gentiva Hospice. Their care for our precious Mama will always be remembered.

A private graveside service will be held Friday, April 19th at 1:00pm at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Conway, Arkansas. The service will be officiated by her Pastor, Daniel Conditt of Russellville Missionary Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Russellville Missionary Baptist Church.

Mama, we are grateful for the promise of heaven, and we look forward to that great reunion in glory!
