Betty Tal Preyer

of Mountain Home, AR

January 25, 1930 - March 29, 2024

Mrs. Betty (Harbour) Preyer of Mountain Home, passed away March 29, 2024. She was born January 25, 1930 in Eutaw, Alabama to William and Catherine (Thomas) Harbour. She moved to Oregon with her family when she was three years old growing up in Glendale, Oregon until she met Jim who took her to Arkansas.

With her husband, Jim, she owned and operated Standard Supply Company spending 50 years working beside Jim as the bookkeeper and "the lady plumber." Her specialty was faucet repair and finding parts.

She received the bowling award as a 50-year member of the Mtn. Home Women's League. The week before the banquet she bowled a 199! Not only was Betty a bowling enthusiast, she also played volleyball and softball. She won numerous awards and was often on special tournament teams. She has hardly missed a Razorback football, basketball, or baseball game in many years. As a Cubs fan she could spout off statistics that amazed everyone.

She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church singing in the choir until her late 80s. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, and provided many donations through her church and organizations to those in need. She was also an excellent seamstress making clothes, quilts, and baby blankets for family and friends.

Mrs. Preyer is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Preyer, her parents, William and Catherine Harbour, her sisters, Esther Kafer (Glen), and Doll Taylor (Pete), and her brothers, Donald Harbour, and John Harbour.

She is survived by her four children, Catherine Conte, Talmon Preyer (Jennifer), Rebecca Preyer, and Kristi Preyer (Scott Licktieg); five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, cousins, their families, and many friends.

Services will be provided by Roller Funeral Home on Friday, April 5, 2024 with visitation 12-2 pm, the funeral at 2 pm with burial in the adjoining Cemetery. Donations may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks or a charity of your choice.

Officiating will be Coach Bill Hughes.

Betty was such a lovely lady. Always enjoyed being around her when I was growing up and spending time with her daughter Rebecca. I always enjoyed going to the plumbing store with my Dad. Deepest sympathy to the Preyer kids and grandchildren.

I never got to know Betty Preyer. I do however know her devoted daughter Rebecca. Anyone that knows Rebecca also knows the world has lost a great lady. Rebecca works long, hard hours and never once complained or missed an opportunity to drive hours to check on her mother's health or to share a cup of their favorite beverage. It takes a great lady to raise such a devoted child.
Rest in peace Betty. You've left this world a better place.

My sincerest condolences, Dr Wayne Swilley

If you indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life .
For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one.
In the depth of your hopes and desires lies silent knowledge of the beyond; and like seeds dreaming beneath the snow your heart dreams spring.
