Matthew "Matt" Scott Butler

of Little Rock, AR

July 27, 1995 - March 21, 2024

Matt Butler died unexpectedly on March 21, 2024, at the age of 28. His life began in Little Rock on July 27, 1995. He was born to Laura Smith (Mark) and Mike Butler (Cristin). He was a younger brother to Nathan and Sarah Butler and an older brother to Savanna and Cara Lockridge. He was the grandson of Doyle and Helen Hughes and Melba Beavers and Dwain Butler.

Matt was a spirited and lively young boy who enjoyed spending time with family and friends and stopping what he was doing to run outside whenever he heard a nearby firetruck. (Somehow, he LOVED firetrucks when he was very little.) Matthew was baptized as a Presbyterian and was the last person to be baptized at St Andrews Presbyterian Church. He grew to be a strong and silent type (6'5''), but his friends knew he had a great sense of humor and a truly wonderful smile. His good heart made him a naturally likeable person to befriend, or to work with. Matt was driven to start working immediately after turning 16 and he worked a variety of jobs until he found his professional home at Texas Roadhouse. Being a hardworking man, over his seven years at Texas Roadhouse, he rose to the level of Service Manager where he was a true favorite, appreciated by staff and patrons alike. Matt said many times that the team at work became his second family.

Matt touched so many people in his far too short lifetime. He will be remembered for his caring, gentle handling of his family and his admirable ability to show loyalty to those same family and his friends. His willingness to work hard to learn new things and improve his skills was a great example to teammates he helped lead so many hours every week.

In Matt's passing, other lives will benefit from his decision to be an organ and tissue donor.

The family wishes to extend a special ''thank you'' to Nancy Passini, Chad Perry and Kristen Red for providing much-needed assistance and support during this difficult time.

A memorial will be taking place on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at the following address from 1:00PM- 6:00PM. Friends and family are invited to attend.
