Michael DeeWayne Wheeler

of Harrison, AR

December 23, 1955 - March 14, 2024

Michael DeeWayne Wheeler, age 68, of Harrison gained his heavenly wings on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center. He was born December 23, 1955 in Harrison, Arkansas to Zelmer Wheeler and Katherine (Burdine) Wheeler. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Michael loved his family more than anything in this world. He also loved to float the Buffalo River. In his youth, he worked at Dog Patch as an animal trainer. Michael raised horses and even had the World Grand Champion Fox Trotter from 2002 to 2004. Some people would say he was the best two-stepper in a five-county radius. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. He is now in heaven watching Toby Keith play his guitar and two-stepping along. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Kristin and her husband, Kevin Blessing of Delaware, Ohio; his son, James Ray Wheeler of Wichita, Kansas; one brother, Tommie Wheeler of Vendor, Arkansas; two sisters, Burdina and Kathy; five grandchildren, Charles Michael and his wife, Emily Ann Griffin, Bradley Dean Jones and his friend, Deshawnta Cacette, Allison Nicole Wheeler, Kelsey Elizabeth Wheeler and Gavin Corbin Wheeler; one great-grandchild, Emerson Knox Griffin and many other family and friends.

Visitation was on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Capps Full Gospel Church, 5204 AR-392, Harrison, Arkansas 72601.

Oh Daddy-O. It has taken me this long to be able to sign this book for you. I am heartbroken. No more “double-tap” phone calls to hear your funny storytelling and tell you I love you. No more “Mike-isms “ just when I think I’ve heard them all before. We had our ups and downs over the years for sure but we’ve had nothing but ups for a really long time now and I’m so grateful for that. The last text I sent you said “I’m proud to be your daughter daddy-o! J love you!” I’m also grateful for that. I can’t imagine celebrating our birthday without you here ever again. Until we meet again I promise to keep the “Mike-isms” alive.

I just heard yesterday and if I’d know I would’ve been to visitation. I was like couldn’t believe. He was our neighbor across road on 7 South. He took us floating and new them rivers real well. I’ll never forget him saving a group who just set in river before us. Currant was real narrow and swift. They had baby in diapers that got caught under water in brush n the guy jumped in n pulled baby out in time. Their Canoe filled up n floated down. Mike took his boat and assisted them best we could. To this day I fill like we were there at time for a reason from above. My fathernlaw was raised in Newton county n new Mike and family well (Charles Edwards). Mike was good neighbor to us, if needed tractor to load something he was there. He knew this area real well and I’ll miss him n think of him especially floating the Buffalo. I didn’t see funeral time unless I missed, I’d like to attend.

I don’t even no where to start my heart is broken as I no yours are too. Mike was a very special person in so many many ways, he always had a smile and a warm hug no matter what he was going through. I can’t even begin to express how special he was
to many.
My prayer is his family and friends will find peace and comfort through our Lord. I no Mike would want each of us to except the Lord as our savior and live for him

We have many fond memories of Mike from our 20’s and 30’s. We agree whole heartedly with the observation in his obituary re his 2 step prowess and we were always amazed at his ability to train just about any kind of animal. Our deepest condolences to his family. We pray for your peace.
