Reuben ''Vernon'' Watson, 82, of Conway, Arkansas passed away on December 26, 2023. He was born on April 27, 1941 in Benjin, Arkansas to the late Elbert V. Watson and Ester Lee Orr Watson.
Vernon graduated from Texarkana Arkansas High School and after graduation he joined the military. He is a veteran of the United States Army and he faithfully and proudly served his country.
After completing his duties in the Army, Vernon joined the Arkansas State Police. He proudly served as a State Trooper and retired after 31 years of service to the public.
Vernon was of the Methodist faith. He loved watching sports of all types; especially any sport involving the Arkansas Razorbacks.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Hughes and one sister, Patsy Livingston.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Watson of Conway; two daughters, Pam Conway and Sandra Wood (Ernie) both of Camden; five grandchildren, Ashley Fogle (Billy) of Camden, Lacey Hendrix of Camden, Dakota Conway of Camden, Hailey Haynes (R.J.) of Conway and Reed Hughes of Conway and three great-grandchildren, Carson Hodnett, Stella Hodnett and Kimberly Haynes. Vernon is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Ernie Wood, Dakota Conway, R.J. Haynes, Reed Hughes and Carson Hodnett.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 1:00pm at the Crestlawn Memorial Park pavilion in Conway, Arkansas officiated by Brother Jason Aultman.
The Arkansas State Police will provide honors at the cemetery.
