Beulah Faye Woodruff

of Jonesboro, AR

December 7, 1934 - December 1, 2023

Beulah Faye ''Bootie'' Woodruff, 88, of Jonesboro departed this life on December 1, 2023. She was born December 7, 1934 in Bunney, AR to Ernest and Velva Barrett. Beulah was the middle of 3 sisters; Peggy Choate and Linda Williams. Beulah grew up on the family's land in Manila, where she helped pick cotton and learned other valuable homemaking skills from her mother. She married her high school sweetheart, Gerald, August 8, 1954, 69 years ago, after they graduated. Gearld and Beulah moved to McGehee in 1958, where she was a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. After having their first child, Allen, in 1961, she began her role as homemaker. Her daughter, Ronda, was born in 1965.

In Jonesboro, Beulah and Gerald were founding members of the Downtown Church of Christ (Washington Ave, Church of Christ). She was devoted to her church family for many decades, teaching Sunday School, organizing Vacation Bible School, Potlucks, the Annual Gospel Singing, forming lifelong friendship and bringing many souls to Christ.

Beulah was an exceptional cook and loved to host family gatherings. She loved to sew, often hand making many garments for herself and her children. She was also very talented at making and painting ceramics, casting and firing her own pieces in her home. She was an avid bow hunter, even having her own deer stand at the family's cabin in Hardy. Beulah also loved to travel, not only the country, but also the world.

Preceded in death by her parents and younger sister, Linda Williams.

She is survived by her husband, Gearld; children, Allen Woodruff and Ronda (Tad) McGrew; grandchildren, Magen (Chris) Busby, Luke and Levi McGrew and two great grandchildren, Colby and Oaklee Busby and elder sister, Peggy Choate.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, December 6, 2023, 2:00 pm at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 W. Washington Ave, Jonesboro with Bro. Kenneth Gossett officiating. Burial will follow at Nettleton Cemetery.

The pallbearers are Matt Dacus, Bill Montgomery, Stacy Miser, Anthony Watson, Chris Busby and Levi McGrew.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of service.

I haven’t seen Aunt Bootie in years. Her sister Peggy is my Nana. I have lots of memories in Arkansas. I loved her and Gerald’s white dog, Precious. I enjoyed playing pinball in their basement.
My heart goes out to the rest of the family. Love to you all from Tennessee! Give Uncle Gerald big hugs from me……xoxoxo

Sending love and prayers to everyone. Aunt Bootie was extra special to me. When I was about 5 years old I got to ride along with her on her rural
Mail
Route. She let me put stamps on some letters and I placed them all neatly in the upper LEFT corner of the envelopes! She just chuckled and hugged me… Please give my Uncle Gerald a big hug for me. Love to all, BJ
