Monty Pratt Lowery

of Paris, AR

November 2, 1941 - November 21, 2023

Monty Pratt Lowery, 82, of Paris, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 in Little Rock.

She was born on November 2, 1941 in Paris, Arkansas to her parents, Clem Robert Schwartz and Fannie Jane Loyd, in their farmhouse where she grew up, on the family property she lived on until her death. Monty was born on her sister's birthday and became her greatest gift. She was a bookkeeper for Harold Jones Construction Incorporated for around thirty-five years and an active member of First Baptist Church in Paris. Monty was a very creative seamstress, she enjoyed colorful flowers and gardening, watching hummingbirds and taking photographs with her family. She mostly loved praying and caring for others with a servant's heart and her lifelong friendships in her beloved community of Paris. Throughout her life she modeled to all that knew her, the fruits of the Spirit in Galatians 5: She loved big with a joyful heart, she was patient and gentle, showed everyone she met kindness and most of all Monty was faithful in her belief in a risen Savior and Lord. She faced life with incredible courage and a will to overcome any obstacles, even as her physical body began failing her. She beamed with joy when talking about her ''boys'', her sons and five grandsons. Monty was the definition of a family matriarch in the truest sense and a model of perseverance.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her previous husband, Louie Don Pratt and her sister, Evelyn Denton.

She is survived by her loving husband of twenty- three years, James Ralph Lowery; her two sons, Michael Rowland of Maumelle and Reese Rowland of Little Rock; five grandsons, Paris Rowland, Julian Rowland and wife, Julie, Ethan Rowland and wife, Kelsey, Preston Rowland and Pierce Rowland.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm. on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Paris with burial to follow in Baxley Cemetery.

Funeral and service arrangements are under the direction of Roller Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons as a tribute to her legacy of love.

I am sorry that I did not know that Monty had passed away until today. I loved her because she was a close friend of my mother, Gail Grist. Reese Rowland was a student in my Mom’s daycare. I did get a beautiful note from her that I have saved after running into her at a recent funeral service at Roller.
She was a wonderful person, and I am so very sorry for your loss.

I’m sorry for the loss of your mother. Losing a mother very hard and is something you never really get over. My mom has been gone for 14 years and there are still times I wish I could talk to her about life or family history or just ask her about a recipe she used to make. My thoughts are with your family in this difficult time.

Monty was a force like no other. A talented decorator and seamstress, she was a huge influence on me as a young wife and mother. She saw possibilities beyond the status quo and made her visions reality. We shared a love of flowers, photography, and a strong devotion to our sons. I’m grateful for having known and learned from her. It’s hard to imagine this world without her in it.

Monty was a great lady, tremendous mother and a good friend. We had birthdays close to each other as well as the same name and she sent me a card every year. She was trusting with us as teenage as on all our church trips and she allowed Reese and me to do whatever we wanted just come find her before we got back on the bus. She was compassionate and loving and treated me just like I was one of her own. She sent me a card after my mom passed and I appreciated it so much. Reese and Mickey, I as so sorry for your loss as the world lost a very good woman. Thoughts and prayers to you and the rest of the family.

Monty was a dear friend. She was always thoughtful of others, sending cards to friends acknowledging their achievements, celebrating their joyous times, and expressing love and care in their sadder times. I have been the recipient of those cards and have appreciated them so much. Monty was faithful in church, attending as long as she was physically able. We have missed her. We are sad to lose her presence here but happy to know that she is strong and well again. James, Mickey, Reese and all her family are in my prayers.
