Emogene and I grew up together from early childhood.
We went to church at Saline church of Christ for many and to Murfreesboro schools until I graduated in 1949.
We could continue to stay close friends.
She was one of a kind, a servant , hostess and an example of a Christian woman.
I'll miss her here on earth, but a god will keep her safe now.

My family had the privilege and blessing of living next door to James and Imogene from 1986-2021. They were more than neighbors, but family. James and Imogene watched and helped us raise a family over the years and provided a set of friends for our children in Hallee, Micah, and Josh.

Along with our other long term neighbor, Dale Leggett, on the other side of our home, I cannot think of a better place to raise our children.

Even in Imogene's later years, when she was using a walker, she was always willing to help with my wife's health situation. She never stopped trying to help in any way she could.

I have no doubt she was a Believer and her place with our Lord Jesus Christ is secure in His Body.

God Bless James and Imogene. You will be missed for now.

We have known James and Emogene for 54 years beginning with the Potter Street Church, then at the Pleasant Valley congregation. They were always serving others including their family members. It was always a joy being in their home. Over the years, we shared many wonderful memories. Her 39 years with Southwestern Bell in their HR department showed her work ethic and her abilities as a people person. We all will miss her, but know she is having a sweet reunion with James. She was so thankful for any kind deed shown her over these last years.

She and James were the perfect examples of Christian living in every way; following the Lord in action and in deed. Emogene was most appreciative of whatever good deed someone brought her way; any food was "the best she ever ate", every gift was "the most beautiful she'd ever seen". I know she and James loved their families (and extended families) dearly and provided for them whenever there was a need.
